  1. The Cleveland announcers said that he has a sprained wrist.
  2. I wish that the Twins could package most/all of the recent acquisitions into a mass trade for Realmuto. The Marlins would get a lot of depth in their farm system and the Twins would get a star catcher.
  3. I feel your pain, but Dozier was not playing very well and apparently they did not see a future for him.
  4. Interesting take on ESPN.com today: Still, as one observer said of Dozier, "He's going to get traded.'' Maybe a team that's already traded for an infielder decides to double-dip, or another club without a perfect positional fit finds a way to get Dozier in the lineup. There's a strong sense that he'll be wearing a different uniform by Wednesday. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24235348/what-happen-final-24-hours-deadline
  5. It seems to me that the Yankees excel in player development/coaching.
  6. I agree about potential improved velocity as he ages, which could raise his ceiling.
  7. I came across this today -- https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1574122 It sounds like Mauer wants to continue with the Twins, but his market value is likely to be fairly low. Does it make sense for the Twins to bid for Mauer, or should they move on?
  8. I coached in Beverly Hills and the incoming talent level was low. We had one player from Russia who had never played baseball. The key was doing all the things Nolan Ryan taught, plus repetition at every practice. Every player got about 10 minutes at every practice. And they all pitched out of the stretch -- I didn't teach the windup.
  9. When I coached little league many years ago, I was the pitching coach. I bought a videotape of Nolan Ryan teaching kids to pitch. At practice I asked for volunteers, and all 12 players wanted to learn to pitch. By the end of the season we had a bullpen of 11 players, and every player got to pitch in a game.
  10. Great analysis, RB. I hope that this gets addressed.
  11. I would be inclined to keep Gibson, but I would not mind a 3 team trade where: 1. the Yankees or Red Sox get Gibson, 2. the Twins get Realmuto and 3. the Marlins get top prospects from the Twins and from the Yankees or Red Sox. Gibson's effectiveness against both the Yankees and Red Sox this year might help create a bidding war.
  12. Is there any hope of him going back to playing catcher?
  13. If Royals win it will be their first sweep of the year. I hope that does not happen.
  14. Not fear -- laziness, apathy and poor eyesight.
  15. He was good last year, and might have nominal trade value if he heats up.
  16. Nice hit by Dozier the other way and nice running by Rosario. Twins up 1-0.
  17. Getting back to a deal with Oakland, their #3 prospect is a catcher -- As you can see he is now at AA. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=oak In my mind this guy sounds like a worthwhile risk: "Murphy draws raves from evaluators for his athleticism, agility and defensive tools behind the plate. He stymies the running game with plus-plus arm strength and above-average pop times, so much so that only 46 baserunners attempted to steal against him over 91 games in 2017. His blocking, game-calling and receiving skills have all improved in the professional ranks, and club officials consistently praise his ability to handle pitchers. Offensively, Murphy possesses an intriguing blend of power potential and on-base skills from the right side of the plate. There's some natural hitting ability there too, and he proved comfortable using the entire field in his first full season. Even if his production is only modest, Murphy's defensive chops alone could make him an everyday catcher at the highest level." Odorizzi, Lynn and ??? for this prospect? Or Gibson and the A's add a player?
