  1. I went to Baseball Reference to refresh my memory, and I found this, which was good for a laugh. (Yeah, I bet that question comes up all the time.)
  2. I always took it as lots of great athletic ability but hasn't harnessed them to make a good player. I can see that being somewhat insulting. At least he didn't get mad and yell through the the door, "I said toolsey to be nice. I really meant fringy at best." She'd DFA him right then and there - no coming back from that
  3. My guess is they believe the medical intervention was fairly minor and sounded like it had a reasonable chance of correcting the issues he had last year. The news right after the surgery sounded like what they found was best-case scenario for him.
  4. I'm not familiar with him, so I'm not sure how to take your comment. Is he prone to wild trade claims that never happen and your second sentence is sarcasm, or is he a solid source and you are saying it's a real possibility?
  5. I don't want him to have a bad life. I just don't want him to play like a $700M player. He doesn't have to get the Ankiel yips - he was just the closest to a 2-way player I could think of, other than Babe Ruth, and I definitely don't want that. Would 1B Joe Mauer be a better wish? I want most Yankees players to be bad, too. And I want the big contracts they throw at players to become albatrosses. And I want our big contract players to be great.
  6. I'm hoping they just passed it and Ohtani turns into Rick Ankiel.
  7. I can't get there
  8. I was off by $200M+
  9. Ugh. I used to like the draft lottery way back when they first started it. (I know it was just last year.) https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39049994/guardians-win-mlb-draft-lottery-select-first-2024-mlb-draft
  10. Me either. I do vaguely remember the name Levale Speigner, probably just because it is an unusual name and I paid attention to the Rule V draft back then.
  11. Pagan started out more like Ron Davis than Matt Capps. The biggest problem with Capps was that we gave up Wilson Ramos to get him.
  12. Teams who would trade for him know this. Unless someone seriously overvalues and overpays, I'd say keep him and roll the dice on him having finally figured something out. It's no better than a 50-50 shot that 2023 2nd half Kep shows up, but if all they will pay for is that 50-50 shot, we might as well keep him.
  13. Last off-season might have been good, too. But he was actually in the plans, unfortunately.
  14. After a two game losing streak? Tough crowd. We'd change managers almost as often as we change socks if that was the standard.
  15. Cheese inside a burger is genius. The rest of the stuff isn't too far off the mark. If he signs elsewhere we might half heartedly try to act like we hold it against him. If he stays the beef/tots/soup combo would become a bestseller at Target Field next year. They'd probably make him the face of the marketing campaign for it.
  16. "Sal the Barber" Maglie was a pretty good pitcher. Apparently, so is "Cristian the Barber" Javier.
  17. https://umpscorecards.com/home/ I think it takes 24 hours to post the finalized data.
  18. Really? I must have been paying too much attention to my typing.
  19. That ball went a long way (and as I'm typing, that one didn't go as far, but it was far enough!)
  20. That one will probably be graded a correct call (at least within the margin of error.)
  21. They are rocketing up the list, but I still hate the Yankees and White Sox more.
  22. Don't say that - they might interpret "any time" as next June. How about "Go score some runs for us now."
