  1. And with the expansion just being two extra guys*, and at least one of them will be a pitcher. I think Lee's ETA is still 2024. * - I think 28 is the expanded roster size. If it's more than that, then that obviously improves his odds.
  2. It's Budweiser. Their target market isn't big on competence.
  3. It might have been the Twins trying to go under slot to throw some money at one of the unsigned picks and the Twins blinked first. Or maybe Boras wanted the full amount they could spend without penalty and his side blinked first. We don't know. We may never know. In a month week we won't care. (But it's the day of, so right now we care.)
  4. One-run win was the theme of the day, now that the big club gave away the win and then took it back.
  5. I remember that the system used to be if you didn't sign the player in the slot, you didn't get to spend the money for the slot (as twinsfansd said.) Did that change with the new CBA?
  6. Would it shock me if any given MLB pitcher didn't pitch again after this year? Not at all. It happens all the time. I wouldn't read too much into what he says. The attrition rate for the position is brutal. He is obviously aware.
  7. He's definitely in the Ron Coomer "gotta pick someone" category of all-stars, and he has managed to be an even worse all star than Coomer was. (No small feat)
  8. I had assumed someone here had slipped a few pills to Rosenthal. Edit to add: Scrolling through these comments, I think I identified a likely suspect.
  9. Apparently he still had at least one good swing to use. That should get him through a half-dozed weak ground balls to second. (Down to five now.)
  10. With that strike zone, nobody would be good.
  11. If only they were that good.
  12. I saw the title and thought "Randballs Stu. - this should be good."
  13. BP... Batting practice? Oh, bullpen. Actually, let's call it a toss-up.
  14. I like TD because we talk about a lot of different angles. Has the trade been a disappointment so far? Sure. Am I glad he took the time to write about it? Absolutely. It seems others agree - we're now on page three of talking about "nothing." I do agree that, while the trade doesn't look great now, it's far from settled. If we could undo the trade, would I? I don't know. The offense hasn't been very good, but I think pieces are there to turn it around. I'm still not sold on Arraez long-term, and I think Lopez will be better, unless he gets hurt (which is always a bigger risk for pitchers.) But having Arraez at the top of the order would look pretty good right now.
  15. He looked way too happy getting pounded out there.
  16. They were supposed to be Mudville, not us.
  17. The last socks I received as a gift - definitely dad-approved. There were three pairs - one pair primarily navy blue, one pair white, and this pair.
  18. Too late. That's the full $400 worth of ugly there. If that ends up affecting the ads I see, the good news is there's no chance I will be tempted into making impulse purchases.
  19. That's why scoring is down. The exchange rate sucks.
  20. How long ago did TD start? I think Seth still had his own site when I left Germany in 2008, but there was someone else here who was at the same base I was and who likely umpired some of the slow-pitch games I played in (back when my knees allowed me to play - I'm relegated to umpiring now.) His time overlapped mine, but continued on after I left, I think I can figure out the name - but it isn't coming to me right now.
  21. An a unicorn. We want a unicorn. (It seems like everything is working today.)
  22. Have to wait until tonight for that. I checked. The way today is going, I might also go buy a lottery ticket.
  23. Scoreboard watching is always fun when the White Sox lose.
