  1. The most important thing for any bullpen is to get 6 inning starts.
  2. David Wells helping the Twins? That's un-possible.
  3. I haven't watched the video but I can record a rap song and video by the end of the day for whatever is in my wallet. This isn't some bourgeois hobby. Kids these days make videos as their hobby. It's pretty much why YouTube exists.
  4. Isn't Levine on record and not liking opt-outs?
  5. I think a TB pitching trade right now is the same as a Dozier trade last winter. It will only happen if teams overpay. TB will hold him until at least the break. What's the motivation to move Archer or Ordizzini (sp?) now? The only one I see is if they get an offer they can't refuse.
  6. I'll admit to not reading the 20 pages leading up to this, but the biggest part of this question is that it depends on what the player wants, not money. If a player wants to come to MN then they'll sign here (see Addison Reed). If a player wants a coast, there's really no way to compete with that. Of course the money in an offer matters, but odds are that MN will have to overpay to land a top free agent just because this is Minnesota. We don't have beaches and Broadway, we have walleye.
  7. How long is a standard MLB contract? Is a book, or just a few pages? I'm curious how quickly agents can comb through the fine details.
  8. But you're taking my words about a hat and recontextualizing them about society as a whole. Talk about racing to conclusions. If you want to stress context so much, let's consider that this is a decision by a corporation in Cleveland to make a branding change, not censorship of a piece of art or the destruction of a historical artifact.
  9. I don't think anybody has said that. This entire conversation is related to CLE's history and how it relates to today.
  10. The context angle lives on in the baseball history books, museums, etc. Nobody is asking CLE to burn their history books, they're asking them to change hats.
  11. Quite honestly, it doesn't matter what it was intended for or meant to be. It's how people perceive it today.
  12. The pace of baseball is the whole point of the game. Might as well just play a round robin tournament in April and get it over with instead, huh? Seriously, it's wise to not want time to balloon out of control, but a clock is a fundamental change. I fully advocate limiting time between at bats or pitches in some way, but mandated behind the scenes. I don't want penalties in baseball (and they don't speed up the game either).
  13. It's about time.
  14. There's no such thing as "no politics" so good luck with that.
  15. Jim Thome at SS. You've blown my mind.
  16. Make them earn it. One of the (many) problems with the 2011-2016 teams is that they handed the job to rookies who hadn't earned it yet, making them feel entitled to the job (in my opinion). Sano is about the only call-up in that period to take the job and run with it, instead of riding the AAA/MLB/AAA shuttle for 2-3 seasons as they figured it out.
  17. That's my expectation as well. I feel like we'd at least be hearing the "he's working hard" noise if anything was happening.
  18. Perkins hasn't officially retired yet, has he?
  19. My favorite moment of the game, pre-last 5 minutes, had to be how Keenum deked the Saints into wasting a challenge+timeout on the Wright catch.
  20. Hopefully this depth means Molitor won't just run the same 2 pitchers out there every single game, burning them out before the break.
  21. Ratings like this are almost completely arbitrary, invested to spur discussion rather than "prospect value." I agree with most of the other commenters. I think it reflects that the Twins have a stronger system than they did a year ago more than any other symptom. Every #1 pick has to learn to overcome struggles at some point. Hopefully Gordon is getting that out of the way now, so he can hit MLB and not look back.
  22. If nothing else, you've created a nice narrative here that makes me want to believe.
  23. They've partially been phoning it in the last two games, but I do wonder if the league has figured out Keenum now. It seems they're collapsing the pocket on him so he can't escape and make the downfield throws he thrived on in the mid-to-late part of the season when the offense looked so sharp.
  24. Is he a better pitcher than Giminez? It sounds like it's to take his role.
  25. Super Bullpen sounds like a marketing term, not a baseball term.
