  1. There was some discussion regarding the book in another thread. Although I have the book, I haven't read it yet. I was wondering if any of you thought this movie was a favorable interpretation? As I said I haven't read it yet, and while I really enjoyed the movie, it felt a little ... miscast ... to me. Anyone?
  2. He should be suspended for as long as Tejada is out.
  3. People in Chicago are acting as if they already won.
  4. My wish as well. But, unfortunately, no matter what Mauer does short of being inhumanly God-like, these silly threads will continue to exist full of implications of laziness, not trying, indifference, poor athletic workout routine and a host of other things. Not that this situation isn't a little frustrating at times, but so are some of the proposed solutions. Guess I'll just throw my hands up in the air and learn to live with whatever will be.
  5. Moderator note: This is a good, passionate debate ... but don't cross the line and start making it personal towards another poster. Stick to the topic, your talking points, your opinions ... but stop the attacks on other posters.
  6. I never read that ... is that really what Maddon said?
  7. All I can say is I'll be cheering on Pittsburgh! Sacrilege since I live in ChiTown ... and I'm not an anti-Cubs person, but ... I don't know ... I just want Pittsburgh to pull it out.
  8. I couldn't have said it better myself! Concur! Times 1000!
  9. Did you try clicking on 'More Reply Options'? I know it's as you describe whenever I'm on my iPad but I've never had issue with it on a computer. Then again, I never ever use IE. (Thankfully we are given options at work so I can avoid it.)
  10. Yeah, and I'll collect on those 3 drinks one day, too.
  11. Well, I guess he could've bowed out ... like Hughes did last year to meet a pay incentive. The Jays' org obviously offered him the opportunity. Always a risky thing ... although ... that first inning ... he should've been out of there before 9 runs scored, thanks to the team.
  12. It was in Nick's original post ... you can't see the embedded image capture? He said: @twinsdaily the comments on your post are actually fantastic. For maybe the first time ever, I'm glad I read them!
  13. I didn't remove it, but I agreed with its removal. You seem incapable of having any discussion about Torii without insinuating that people don't want him solely because of his race. Most posters discussing baseball, in a baseball forum, don't want Torii for baseball reasons. But you want to attribute racism as a reason every single time for people's 'real reason' without any acknowledgement that posters may have legitimate baseball reasons. Could there be those who this is a primary issue? Sure, I don't think anyone denies that this could be a reason for some. But to me, you don't seem to even want a legitimate discussion on racism, you just want to throw it out there at every opportunity whether or not germaine to any discussion at hand as it serves your purpose for entertainment in derailing discussions on baseball.
  14. Yay! We got a run!
  15. If you want to keep playing the race card inappropriately and unnecessarily, your post will be deleted each and every time. Why don't you try and read your messages that explained this. And if this were BYTO nothing would get deleted, ever, especially not your post, as that kind of thing is exactly what BYTO thrived on. The problem you seem to have is yours is the only opinion that matters and that we should operate according to what you think should be. I can guarantee that posters from all 'sides' of every, single issue thinks their 'side' is treated unfairly and the other 'side' slides by. It's just not so. As for the Ryan issue in the kudos thread, you are the one who made it personal. I don't think it unreasonable to allow a poster to disagree, as long as it is done with civility and as long as that doesn't get completely side tracked off the thread topic. Your response in calling that poster a 'wet blanket' was making it personal. Why not just ignore it? And in case you didn't notice, some subsequent posts by that poster were also deleted. This is far more an explanation than I think you or anyone deserves as these issues should remain private. But since you are hell bent on making them public, so be it.
  16. Well, Buehrle didn't make it out of the first. The Rays are up 7-0. It was the sentimental thing to do to give him the two innings, but he didn't deliver.
  17. And .... Buehrle is ending his career by giving up a GS. The only slam the Rays have hit all year.
  18. Wow, didn't know this tidbit on Buehrle ... in his 15 years in the majors, no trips to the DL.
  19. And Buehrle getting no help from his team may not make it through the first.
  20. In a recent contract negotiation, the lawyer for 'our side' reminded us of a saying ... if neither side is completely happy, you've probably found the right balance. The same could apply here.
  21. I'm switching between games ... want to see Beuhrle's last to innings.
  22. Kinda like the two seasons in MN ... winter and not winter. Well, or, winter and road construction.
  23. I think I will actually watch the start of the Jays-Rays game to see Buehrle complete his career ... if he doesn't do a Favre.
  24. No, in any role, even if he were willing.
