  1. I don't think there was much to remember.
  2. I think the Chachalakas would make for a great team name.
  3. Gibson pitched today as I thought (hoped) he would following ST. Yes, my high hopes were dashed, but I'm hoping we're seeing a serviceable change from him.
  4. I think at the very least those three should be in AAA, and soon. Some of these prospects can be given cups of coffee in the big leagues, see how they do and let them also see what they need to do to stay up. And whoever shows closest to ready, a September call up. I'm not in favor of DFA'ing or trading 3/5 of the starting rotation right now in order to throw these guys in there for the duration of the season, especially without any AAA time under their belts. I think that would be disastrous. But I do think AAA call ups with MLB cups of coffee are what should happen.
  5. When you see Twins vs opponent ... that's a home game. And when you see Twins @ opponent ... that's an away game. I'm not even sure why we started doing it that way, since, as you say, it's against the 'norm,' but I think it was a 'list the Twins first' reasoning, since this is a Twins fan website. And it's just a game thread. Anyway, I hope that clears up your confusion. Just keep telling yourself "v or vs is home game, @ is away game" and your confusion should go away.
  6. It's not a policy as much as an agreed upon format so there would be consistency to the threads. We've been doing it this way for the last 3-4 years so I'm a little mystified as to why this is an issue now. I guess we all have our pet peeves. Is it really that confusing for you?
  7. Here's today's thread ... follow there: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/26622-game-thread-twins-v-angels-74-110-pm-cdt-1110-am-for-us-out-here/?do=findComment&comment=648046
  8. Yeah, fair ... I guess you and I really have a different angle on this year. I'm not ready to give up on it ... it's not quite toasted for me. Yeah, the probability is low, but I think the possibility is still high enough to not completely give up on it. However, even then, I still think you give these guy the cup of coffee and see what they do. If they do well, give them another, until they don't. Once they know what they are up against, it will give them a better idea of what they need to do for next year without completely bowing out of this year. Then call one or two up in September, if none sticks for the rest of the year. And yeah, don't know about the 'what if' question. I was always a 'Hughes in the bp makes the most sense' person, but May out ... that really hurt. Gotta think he would've done at least enough to be middle of the pack on this team. But again ... it's a big 'what if' and no way to know.
  9. I agree that we should be trying these three. And I agree that it's not rushing them nor will it destroy their future. (Although I haven't really seen the 'destroy their future' comment before.) However, that's still not quite an endorsement that they will help this team this year. Again, yes, I think they should be getting their chances and that they will hopefully prove something and maybe they will help the team this year. But it's definitely not a they will help the team this year call, imo. It's still a leap/adjustment going from AAA to the Majors. Some slot in nicely, while others do not. But, I think it's still better than going with pitchers who have proven too hittable over and over again. That definitely doesn't help the team this year, either.
  10. Yes ... but not hundreds of times. There's a big difference between voting once a day, when you get a punch card at a game, than voting 100s of times a day from a computer.
  11. Congrats to Miguel and Ervin. I likely won't watch the game, but I'm pleased with the good representation.
  12. I might have said this already on this thread, can't remember. I've always respected the office of president. It meant something. Even if I disagreed with the current holder's politics, even when I've complained about the current holder's politics, I still always respected them, because they were the President of the United States. With Trump? No. And it has nothing to do with his politics, but with him. He is a horrible human being, it doesn't matter what his politics is, he, himself is a horrible, awful human being, with not one ounce of humanity or compassion for anyone. He's just a horrible, horrible person. Given that, for the first time in my lifetime, I do not respect this office holder, I don't care who he is. I won't refer to him as my president and I don't care if he went through a duly sanctified process to 'win.' He is not a respectable person, in any way whatsoever. Not. My. President.

  14. Game thread for Saturday, July 1.
  15. The commentary isn't specifically about McEnroe. Yes, they used that incident as a springboard to talk to a broader issue but, once again, this isn't about male vs female nor about being politically correct.
  16. As I said above, the commentary clearly concedes there is no contest in a physical match up. This isn't about Serena vs a male opponent and who would win. You are viewing this quite narrowly. I don't even think McEnroe was being all that serious in his response. This isn't even specifically about what McEnroe said as it was a springboard to a larger point in how we characterize male and female athletes and the need to compare. But I've already said all this.
  17. I think you and I read different commentaries.
  18. . I think it's too much to expect a win but I like that he's getting a look, both from our side and from his.
  19. For now I'm thinking it's a good thing (until I know for sure otherwise) considering the predictability we had with past GM.
  20. As I sat down this morning to read (edit) the game thread I was eating my breakfast. My breakfast was a toasted English muffin with peanut butter and honey on it.
  21. Wall Street
  22. Wow ... that's a big decision for 20 seconds. And while you'd think most would have some idea how they'd go in that spot, it really sounds like he just wasn't prepared. I wonder ... had he gone much later, in the 3rd round as he was thinking he would, if his decision would be different?
  23. Benghazi
