  1. Where’s Brian on this? Surprised he hasn’t written several lengthy posts on the matter!
  2. Right. It used to be 16 and 14 teams in each league, but they changed it when they broadened interleague play. So, if interleague play is here to stay, then either universal DH or no DH I’m both leagues.
  3. Polanco looked quite happy with his single.
  4. My point ... DH or no DH ... if the two leagues are going to play and compete with one another throughout the season, then lets drop the separate games ... either both leagues employ the DH, or neither. If you want to preserve the distinctness of the leagues, then stop inter-league play and have them meet in the All-Star game and WS ... and that's it. (And, personally, inter-league play is the thing I dislike the most. Just so you know that's where I'm coming from.)
  5. As long as there is interleague play, I'm all for the DH in both leagues. If they want to keep the differences between leagues, then keep them separate until the WS. I think it's ridiculous for teams to be expected to play many games a season under different rules. So ... either make it the same game or keep it separated until the WS. But the DH is likely coming to the NL. It's the only way the Bryce Harper contract makes any sense, imo. I still fail to see how that has anything to do with making the parks the same. Okay, so you make one part of the game homogenous, so now you want to make every aspect homogenous, because, that's what follows?
  6. Ah, heh ... I guess i didn't read the fine print at the bottom.
  7. Just so everyone knows, there are two ongoing discussions about this in the forums. That latter is more about the impact, but the former is, well, more closely related to this article, and mentions the Athletic piece mentioned in this article. Juiced Baseball Update Home Runs
  8. I found it on my own anyway. It was a so so article. Didn’t really report anything new. And the title didn’t really match the body of the article. It’s basically a retread of reporting the debate where Harris called out Biden on his record regarding school integration and busing and speculating on if it will have a negative effect on the election. It didn’t bring any real research of opinions other than quotes from a few people. It didn’t really report ... is this an ongoing thing? It doesn’t seem like it, just a continuation of the media rehyping that small portion of the debate that happened a couple weeks ago now.
  9. Is that link correct? I got a ‘page not found’ page when I clicked on it.
  10. What they overdo is putting fewer and fewer chips in the same size bag and start charging more. Or putting the same number of chips in a larger bag and start charging more.
  11. Honestly, if this weren’t done, somebody’s mind would be boggled that it wasn’t because it’s such an obvious solution to a bag of crushed chips or cookies.
  12. Wow ... that a huge over-slot bonus ...
  13. Let's table the PED/juiced player talk as this is not the topic of this thread.
  14. Pretty much
  15. You want your mind boggled, start reading the the labels of everything you buy and consume.
  16. Do you have something to refute that statement? If so, I’d be interested.
  17. Yeah ... I've been at protests and rallies ... and when things start to get the least bit unruly, I have said to those near me ... 'I'm out ... this isn't the answer ... we've already made our point, let's not ruin it.' Then leave, quickly.
  18. On all sides.
  19. I'll say this ... I much prefer a close 2-1 game than a blowout. While home runs are fun ... only when your team is hitting them ... they get boring when you see them 5-7 times/game. They are no longer 'special.' That said ... when pitchers are being developed to pitch in the triple digits ... I do see this as a counter to that. However, this 'all or nothing' approach takes the nuance out of it, which is why I like baseball ... for all the in betweens. At least with the 'juiced ball' ... everyone is on the same playing field (I guess pun intended). It's not a case of juiced player vs non-juiced player (at least in theory and hopefully in practice). But ... Verlander has really the best, and maybe truly only, serious argument. The MLB will end up killing their own sport in the effort of ... what? Satisfying the owners' wallets today without thinking of the cause/effect of the future of the sport? That, to me, is, well, criminal.
  20. Wouldn’t say Cleveland has clawed their way back in because it was too early in the season to discount them. They are now performing as expected while we are coming back to earth, more in our expected range. Will make for a close season after all. And really glad Sano is finding his way back because we need him to.
  21. Okay, ish. But I lol’d just the same.
  22. That’s great and good for her. But what does this have to do with baseball?
  23. My Cubs fan friends are going nuts.
  24. I thought the last two summers were very different from the Ryan FO. It may not have been what we wanted or would have done, but it was different.
  25. They would have to add him to the 40-man and for a game or two, there is no reason to do that. Edit: ninja’d by ash.
