  1. I think everything was defensible since we won. If Baldelli gets credit for losing games, he gets credit for winning them, imo. But overall, I think it’s a combined effort between everyone. as for the day off, I think this explains it. He didn’t just have one, and he’s had fewer rest than others, on a shorter ST than others. And this day off today along with yesterday sets up 13 days in a row of play, so, good for Baldelli to be thinking ahead for a long stretch of play, especially since we will be losing two players come May 1st
  2. Same with my Mom, again back in the mid-60s and then some. One year she actually kept a score card for every game. Wish she had kept that … it would have been interesting to see. She lives in Florida now but still enjoys going to a game when I visit, either for ST or to see a Miracle (now Mussels) game. She said growing up on their farm, long before the Twins existed, she followed the Cardinals on the radio. There may have also been some kind of affiliate or minor league team nearby, but that story is foggy.
  3. Actually ... Garlick pinch hit for Larnach ... then Celestino pinch ran for Garlick and Celestino stayed in the game
  4. Sano had a 496-er in 2019 against the ChiSox (according to a quick google search ... someone else may be able to confirm or deny this)
  5. I don't recall Buxton ever being this animated, showing how much of a leader he is. Shades of Kirby's 'jump on my back' ... it seems like either he's just really, finally, coming into his own, or what? But it seems he's found a missing component
  6. I don't know yet if this is how the Sox's year will end ... but their beginning certainly reminds me of the Twins last year ... high expectations, then injuries and illness and under/poor performance just derailed them. The Sox seem to be going that route this season when their expectations are high
  7. I mean, I post a lot of links and photos of shoes in game threads … ?
  8. i can’t like this article enough! Thank you! You should encourage all your women friends to participate on TD, if they don’t already. The forums and blogs await! Game threads in particular. It amazes me with all the women fans out there, female fans don’t make up half the participants here ... yet. I’m not much of a Twitter person, but have participated on message boards and websites for years and usually I’ve been one of two or three women. It’s nice seeing those numbers grow. It hasn’t always been an easy experience, for various reasons, but for the love of the game, and having others to talk Twins with, since I live out of state, I stick with it. So, send your friends here! It's a great community! Me, circa 1966? Forget the toy guns (not sure how or why that was a thing), but look at the sweatshirt I'm wearing ... 1965 American League champs Kinda wish I still had those sunglasses, though.
  9. Larnach was lifted because of the pitching match up. I think it was the right call. And then he was substituted with Celestino at the top of the next inning, also the right call. I’ve said it a few times, I think Duffey is a good reliever, but not as a closer, ever. I have no issues bringing in Duffey when Baldelli did, and it paid off. Had Duffey been called to pitch the 9th, we’d be having a very different conversation. Wasn’t someone warming up when Pagan finally got the last out? Can’t remember who, but I thought someone had started to warm up, so I think there was a plan B. But on that, I could be mistaken. Then again, maybe we have an 'Everyday Eddie' part 2 on our hands. Yep, I think the ump made the right call on that pitch, but maybe the right call was putting Jeffers into the lineup at the start, instead of Sanchez. Not sure the reason, but Sanchez has been catching Ober, so we saw Jeffers instead. Not only did Jeffers get a timely hit, and scored the tying run, he made a good block in the 9th, and his set up and framing allowed the ump to actually see the ball to make the correct call. Kudos to Rocco for putting Jeffers in for the game. Just offering a different perspective. Maybe Baldelli gets some credit here instead of the Twins winning in spite of him.
  10. Yup. And that was the winning run. He doesn’t throw home, and who knows how the game would’ve ended
  11. Thorpe released? https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/lewis-thorpe-released-by-twins/
  12. Good point. Numbers aren't always created equally or evenly.
  13. I don't think we should be giving such idiocy a platform, personally. I think we can establish a line ... but ... such is life
  14. Take a hindsight topic and stir it up to get responses ... it's a formula for some
  15. I found this a strange article and a strange comparison, imo. I mean no disrespect when I say that, but it is very odd to me. I guess in the grander scale, talking about relevancy, we could draw comparisons, make analogies, to many things. The only constant is change. If anything wants to remain constant, well, change is inevitable. Adapt or perish. I work in an industry that competes for its own relevancy and we are always trying new things, presenting ourselves in new venues, trying to find new things that relate to others in meaningful ways. Sometimes it means letting go of persons or things that made us relevant at one time but is making us irrelevant in a new time. But baseball is making itself irrelevant on its own. While other entities work toward finding answers, I don't think baseball is trying to that because those who own it, don't really care, truly, about its fanbase and the people that make it relevant.
  16. The Guardians is the renamed team from Cleveland, where Falvey was when their pitching pipeline was developed.
  17. Ooou … the gloves are off now …
  18. They'd better win today. And that's all I'm saying 'bout that

    1. Old fox

      Old fox

I would like them to win however the season is young and it’s cold outside. That’s why we play baseball. Have a good day.

I want them to win to celebrate a birthday for a friend :) I know it's a long season and mostly don't care about 1 win, but I just want it today :)

  19. Reading what it was, I'm not sure I'd want that name ... but then we have Mighty Mussels in our system ... I mean, mussels are squishy and icky, not so mighty, so why not Sky Carp. (Assume they mean the Canadian goose ... those birds are kind of nasty)
  20. Google is your friend ? Plus, I was curious, too. https://www.mlb.com/news/beloit-sky-carp-rebrand
  21. testing ... anyone else having difficulties commenting in this space?
