  1. This isn’t a Rocco thing, never was. And it isn’t just an organizational thing, never was. This is an MLB-wide thing, always was. We can hate it, but this is how the game is being played everywhere.
  2. Also, the season is young and Ryan is still a rookie. With the bp there, as you have stated, why risk it. The kid has been doing an impressive job, even through last night. While maybe not quite as sharp, this early in the season, there is no need to push it. Now, if this were August, I might think differently.
  3. I hope the bp makes us all look bad for complaining
  4. vs last year ... yeah ... I'm just loving what's happening out there on the field. As I said in the game thread ... this chick digs a good defense!
  5. Winder will be starting tomorrow; and Duran pitched today (as you probably knew since you asked this prior to the game)
  6. Well ... that took a little wind out of the sails ... until the next gust
  7. We questioned it long before then ... just sayin' ...
  8. During the off-season, when FA starting pitchers were going off the market and it looked like we were going with trades, youngsters and/or reclamation projects, many of us were then focussed on, ‘Okay, then, they’d better get a stellar defense in place.’ While the pitching has been so much better than expected, not enough can be said of the defense. That play of Correa’s last night, and Urshela’s the night before … wow. Even the pitchers, in interviews, have commented how much a boost it is to them to have that defense behind them. While Correa’s bat needs to finally show itself, his defense is a difference maker. And I thought we were going to miss Donaldson. As much as I was upset they traded him, and as much as I like Donaldson as a player, I’m saying to myself, ‘Donaldson who?’ Defense matters … right, @nicksaviking? ??
  9. I wonder if Max was trying some imagery work and pretended that Pineda was Bauer to get those home runs
  10. You know … if Sano hadn’t run to 2nd, Urshela wouldn’t have taken off for 3rd, and we would be sitting with bases loaded, one run behind. Given the Twins history of scoring with bases loaded, we’d have scored, at most, one run and we’d have been sitting with a tie game going to the 10th. More likely, no runs and a loss. So, given that, it was good Sano and Urshela goofed on base running, ultimately forcing the errant throw by Haase into left field allowing not only the tying run to score but the winning run, too
  11. And Kepler seems to be connecting again. And while Correa hasn’t found his bat yet, wow, can that dude throw a baseball. And we win even though Bux didn’t get a hit .., it can’t always be on him.
  12. Wow … we win, granted, not in the greatest of fashions, thanks to the Tigers’ error, but sheesh, guess there is nothing good to be said about the game
  13. Don't forget to join us in tonight's game thread once the game gets underway!
  14. Whiners are wieners

  15. You completely missed the point. Like, completely. Astudillo is NOT a good catcher not even close, so much not even close that the Twins and his current team do t think he is either. Losing Astudillo has no bearing on this discussion, because he’s not a catcher. I’d rather have our current backup options than Astudillo.
  16. No, not one iota. What I wish was that they hadn't traded Rortvedt, too. I get trading Garver, but both? No. Astudillo is NOT a good catcher. We are better with Godoy or Sisco than Astudillo, even if he was such a fan favorite. Frankly, I'd rather have Esco back for catching depth, that's how much Astudillo is not a good catcher, imo, and in fact, the Twins and his current team don't even really consider him a catcher at all.
  17. He does come to ST as a special coach, I believe (or has) ... I've seen him there ... but I don't know how much actual, in detail coaching he does. Someone closer in might have a better answer. @Seth Stohs?
  18. Yeah, I made that observation, too, earlier in thread. Time will tell, but they have really been hit with the injury bug, along with less than stellar play. Listening to the White Sox recap with Ozzie and Frank Thomas … was interesting. A year ago Ozzie was saying, ‘Wow, these aren’t the Twins I remember’ and he’s close to that with the Sox after losing 7 in a row.
  19. Well, also … I think we are forgetting who was coming up to bat. Loading the bases for Arraez wasn’t necessarily a good idea, either. Arraez hits a single, two runs score. That was perhaps the higher likelihood than another Bux bomb. And Buxton did have those 3 Ks from earlier in the game. I don’t think it was indefensible to pitch to Buxton, with your best closer on the mound. They decided to pitch to Bux instead of Luis. And LaRusso just got beat, is all. It happens. But boy, am I glad it did!
