    I’m guessing long relief, as we could have used yesterday; or, maybe Maeda to the IL, or maybe Gray isn’t fully recovered from illness? Headrick hasn’t been used as a RP, has he? That’s why this is interesting.

    You know, if you planned it right, you could road-trip to Cedar Rapids, catch his last game there, then continue onto Wichita and catch him there. And you could write about it and call it ‘Confessions of a Hit and Run Tourist - Day Nineteen’.

    I was reading elsewhere and wish I had the link, but the theory was the build up of rosin and sweat and rosin and sweat can create a ‘sticky substance’ situation. I think that’s why the umpires had him wash his hands, because a legal substance, overused, was having an affect of an illegal substance. But after being questioned a second time about it, and then letting him continue to pitch, without washing his hands again, I do question that.

    We may see a trade or two at the deadline, in order to make room, if a couple of players don’t step up (Kepler and Gordon). A lot depends on where the team stands and what their needs are and who will take these guys, if, as I said, they don’t get it going.

    It’s difficult to not be happy with the results so far, but I’m still going to just try not think about October until it happens. I still want to see consistency in our offense and I’m still a little wary about our BP … I also don’t want to jinx anything! That said, it is SO MUCH EASIER to want to tune in and watch because of two things … pitch clock and SP depth. Every night is a SP I want to see instead of only 2/5 of the time!

    Not really sure about the wise part, and that almost received the laughing emoji, I think I was just being hopeful to protect against any possible jinx!

    If they don’t need a BP arm, and I’m guessing they don’t right now (?), I think they should keep Varland up until they are certain Maeda can make his next start. It’s what I would be inclined to do.

    Or just hold him there until they are certain Maeda can make his next start? I don’t think they need a BP arm yet. How soon will Winder be ready? He’s making rehab appearances, yes? Maybe they are waiting for him to be activated and will make that the move?

    Well, the consensus is correct on Wallner down for Kepler. The next moves will be interesting. I think they will hold onto Garlick for as long as possible, so I think Castro or Larnach will be the next to go down with the next activation, and the other with the one after that. (My guess would be Castro for Gallo and Larnach for AK.) Julien is going to be tough but I think he will go down for Polanco. Not sure it’s what I would do or want, I just think those with options will get sent down before losing either Garlick or Gordon. But Gordon is not going to be DFA’d this early. They will, and should imo, give him every opportunity to get it going. And these thoughts dependent on how players are playing at the times needed to make the transactions.

    He had two balls hit/deflect off him in that last inning. The first off his foot, which he shook off; the 2nd off his knee on the final out of that inning. He managed to still make the play but looked like he was limping slightly walking off the field. Could have had something to do with being pulled after 5 and only 77 pitches after a very good outing.

    He started against the Yankees last year, too, and did quite well then, too. Maybe the Twins have found their curse breaker!

    Berrios had a very nice game tonight against the Rays. I hope he’s finding his groove again.

    I just don't see this. Errors happen. No player, no team is going to get everything. Gallo is generally good defensively. So I don't think this take is accurate. Not sure why you are bringing this up now? Teams pinch hit and pinch run and replace players all the time. After we took the lead late in the game, you switch to defense. That's how you play it.

    Because your best offensive lineup isn’t necessarily your best defensive lineup. We took the lead late in the game and you want to hold it. At that point it becomes a game of defense. You want to start the game with your best offense, I would think. I don’t know, that’s how I look at it

    Watching the Jays-Rays game on the MLB channel, and they interrupted early on after the Yankees scored 2 in the first and made some sort of comment like the Twins took it to then last night and now the Yankees are taking it to the Twins tonight. I’m like, yeah, 2 homeruns on bad pitches is the same as hitting around the order for 9 runs, including back to back to back homeruns in the process.
