  1. Though I have only "seen" Mendez via box scores or these great game re-caps, I am a Mendez fan. Good to see he played a little at first base. I hope he does more of that.
  2. I remain hopeful that the Twins actually will play Mendez at first base (in the minors) in 2026, rather than just saying it is an option.
  3. I hope the Twins play Mendez at first in 2026 (in the minors).
  4. "Shane Mack and his 19.6 fWAR as a Twin is called underrated. That's not wrong, but I'd say Bob Allison and his 35.3 fWAR (4.2 of which came as a Senator pre-move) is more underrated. Folks a bit older than me speak about Allison with glowing terms. It's easy to be overlooked when you are batting behind Carew-Oliva-Killebrew. " Opposing second basemen would vote for Mack over Allison if there was going to be a close play at second.
  5. Maybe there is a scenario for keeping both for a few months, if Roden could use that time to study Outman's black hole.
  6. "This would offer me some hope if it happened and I'd be led to believe that they actually have a clue of what they are doing." So you agree it will not be happening.
  7. When I read the headline, I thought the Twins got Shelton AND Skenes. Apparently not.
  8. "1.074sec - 0.938sec = Brooks Lee's throw reaches 1st base .136 seconds later than the average MLB SS. Runner traveling 27ft/sec x .136sec = 3.7 feet. That's what Brooks Lee's arm gives up relative to the average MLB shortstop. A bang-bang out play becomes an easy infield hit by almost 4 feet if Brooks Lee is throwing the ball." Enjoyed the math. Reminded me of my dad.
  9. second-ranked prospect Jhostynxon Garcia (right-handed hitting outfielder) Does Dan Gladden get to vote on trade options?
  10. My appreciation for Clemens grew when one of our pitchers fielded a bunt (or swinging bunt), threw wildly to first, and Clemens, playing second base, caught the errant throw on the fly.
  11. "He's (Ryan's) a stud. Minnesota can get a very nice return package when the time comes." So, two 18-year-old catchers rather than one.
  12. I see he pitched today. 3 innings, no hits, no runs, one walk, six strikeouts.
  13. It was a lot of fun listening to Herb and to Ray Scott. We had it pretty good.
  14. I have written this before, but it was several years ago. In 1968, I ushered a few games at the Met. On one occasion, during warm-ups, shortstop Jackie Hernandez was making very erratic throws to Reese at first base. Eventually, one of the coaches noticed, "asked" Hernandez what he was doing, and Hernandez said that Reese wanted him to make bad throws. The coach ended this training exercise.
  15. If I recall correctly, a big if, Rooker was drafted while Terry Ryan was GM, Sometimes, a new leader will think more highly of his/her picks than those of his/her predecessor.
  16. In the 1960s, my mom always knew the Twins had lost that afternoon if I was playing catch with the retired dentist who lived next door.
