  1. Thanks for taking one for the team! Grab a few beers and enjoy the game. You earned them!
  2. I totally agree. Get on base and either manufacture a run (remember that term?) or get hit through the bags. That guy the last few years is Mauer. We should be utilizing that remaining talent to its max.
  3. Obviously Molitor/coaching staff/F.O. are seeing things from Buxton that excites them. I wouldn't bat him third to start the season but he could do well in the 5 or 6 hole. He might need just a little more confidence to step into that #3 hole. I know Molitor/Falvey and TD members have all be waiting anxiously for me to make my recommendation so here it is: Mauer - slap those singles and take those walks all day baby! Polanco - could be Kepler here too Dozier - RBI's now climbing Sano - MASHER! Buxton - Move up to #3 hole on June 1st Kepler - Polanco could be plugged in here as well Park - Big pushing power in the back of lineup Rosario - Swing away...you're not walking anyway Castro - Frame up a hit here occasionally P.S. Molly, I'm sorry I haven't returned your phone calls...got busy at work. The lineup you wanted me to come up with is listed above. Let me know a good time for you and Falvey and we can schedule a conference call to go through the rotation and pen options as well. Thanks!
  4. No one ever became great by playing it safe. Keep running and diving Buxton! So fun to watch those amazing athletic feats.
  5. The key word there is leadership. The veteran part confuses people. Joe Mauer is a veteran. I don't think anyone would argue that point...Is he a leader in the club house? Doesn't look like it to me. Obviously that is just my opinion but Joe has never struck me as a rallying type of guy. Not sure of Santana, Hughes, Castro. Dozier may be the closest to that "leadership" person out of the group you mentioned.
  6. I am excited to watch the offensive side of this team! I disagree with some of the comments made about this club as unwatchable. The pitching is lame but there will most likely be some upside surprises as well for that core of players. I think of the huge potential we have on the offensive side of the equation and it really does remind me of the 87 team. All of us here on TD along with the front office knew pitching was the low spot for this team. It bothers me if they don't start more youth on the pitching side but I think I also understand their strategy. If the offensive side of this team really starts to rip it up and score a lot of runs, mediocre pitching can carry this team a long way. The bigger question is if this rotation and pen even qualifies for mediocre.
  7. Van Man, need some help! I can't seem to give away any of my Twins season tickets. I've tried leaving them in restroom stalls, McDonalds, even orphanages. No one seems to want them. Any other ideas? Desperate....
  8. Some of these new coaches sound like good additions. It will be fun to watch their potential impact on the team in 2017. On a more serious coaching/managing matter, I'm concerned about who is helping Molitor construct the daily lineup. Hopefully the coaches that assisted Molitor with that task last year have moved on...
  9. I really hope Park makes the trip north after Spring Training. Between Park and Vargas, I think Park has the potential to create more momentum for the team. After watching both players I think Park strikes more fear into a pitcher than Vargas. Just my humble opinion.
  10. Good article. Thanks for the information...based on what was written I hope we go with the the youth movement. I would prefer to see Murphy or Garver get the nod.
  11. This is the best shape I've ever been in coming into a game thread.
  12. Great work Thrylos! Appreciate the information.
  13. Great post DocBauer! Here's what I think and actually believe. Right now we have a core group of guys that kind of remind me of the 85-86 Twins club. This "core" could turn into something special... Buxton = Puckett Sano = Gaetti Polanco = Gagne Dozier = Knoblauch Kepler = Brunansky Berrios = Viola Santana = Blyleven Vargas could add some more gas... Rosario has got what it takes too. Awesome athlete. I'm an optimist at heart too. Don't count this crew out. A very young and talented team is now on the big stage. I didn't even mention Mauer...could hit .320 or better to boot. Bring on Spring! Can't wait.
  14. I'm still a baseball purest at heart. Leave the rules alone please. If you change anything take away the DH. It's unfair to American league teams having to cough up more cash for these players. Maybe this topic should be it's own post...
  15. I just read this article and all the comments...Looks like I chose the wrong week to quit drinking.
  16. I've been a TD member since 2015. Can't even remember how I found it but I'm here now...Started writing Game Thread intro's last year and had an absolute blast doing it. I was still a newbie and scared to do it but glad I did! If you haven't watched a game while posting on a Game Thread your missing one of the best aspects of this site. They are hilarious! If you are new to Twins Daily don't be afraid to post your thoughts or start a new topic thread. Everyone is respectful. I have cheered on the Twins ever since I was a small kid growing up in Bloomington, MN. As a mid 40's guy now I remember going to the old Met and seeing Rod Carew play. I moved away from the Twin Cities in 92 (with stops in Florida, Alabama and Philly). While away I still followed the team closely. Living in Florida for 7 years allowed me to see a lot of Twins spring training games. I still think Ft. Myers is one of the best baseball experinces there is. I came back in 2004 and moved to the Minnetonka area. It's great to be back and watch my home team play regularly. I have a few favorite Twins moments: 1. Sitting with my dad during Game 7 of the World Series. He got a phone call that day around noon with an offer for two tickets. Needless to say we took them. 2. Game 6 at the 1991 World Series. My college roommate's dad called that morning and said he had two tickets for us. He was going to be with customers in a suite and asked if we wanted to go. Of course we wanted to go. We drove to the game from St. Cloud and picked up the tickets from his dad. We walked in and couldn't believe our eyes. They were literally in the front row over the Braves dugout. Jane Fonda and Ted Turner sat down next to us in the first inning but had to leave after the 2nd inning because the verbal abuse was getting a little out of hand from the fans behind us. After Puckett hit his homer I watched Charlie Liebrandt walk off the field with tears in his eyes. 3. In 1997 while living in the Tampa area an old buddy of mine gave me some press passes for an old timers game at Al Lang Stadium in St. Pete. My wife and I decided to see how far these passes would take us. After the 3rd inning we decided to try and walk onto the field. The usher let us right through and we walked over to the American league dugout. We walked right in and stood in the corner. As soon as we walked in I saw Bert Blyleven and Harmon Killebrew sitting at the far end of the bench. I walked right over to them and introduced myself. Told them I was the biggest Twins fan around. They laughed when I told them how we got into the dugout. They invited me to sit down with them and I watched the rest of the game with those two. Both were real class acts. Everything they say about Harmon is true. One of the nicest and most humble man I ever met. My new wife wasn't impressed with my behavior though. I think I may have ignored her the rest of the game... Favorite Players: Killebrew, Carew, Nathan, Hrbek, Blyleven, Puckett, Gladden I stop by TD everyday. Still the best spot for Twins info and bantering with other die hard Twins fans.
  17. Agreed. Best route is to pick the most athletic player and roll the dice...

  19. Hey! I just heard the Dozier/Twins trade with Dodgers was just announced on KFAN. WOW!!
  20. WAY TO JINX IT SAMPLE SIZE! May as well turn it off now. Some people...
  21. I wonder if Peter Bavasi was even the GM of Cleveland then...I'll check. Twins north is correct. Town Hall was close to or just after happy hour ended.
  22. Thank God someone started a game thread! I was going into hypothermic shock and having some minor DT's. Chief should start some early season recruiting for game thread volunteers now while there is still hope in the season ahead. Brian thanks for taking the initiative with the game thread. Next time please remember to post the winter lineups with start time, etc.
  23. I had a whole post about humble pie but decided to wait on that one. Let's enjoy the holiday then kick that one into high gear. Cow pies we can discuss now.........2016 Twins.
  24. Pumpkin of course. Banana cream, french chocolate, french apple, coconut cream (hate it..wife won that one), pecan. Cheers and happy Thanksgiving!
  25. Welcome to the Thanksgiving Day Game Thread! What a great day to celebrate and be thankful for all that we have been given over that last year. First I need to apologize to Chief. I did not get his permission to do this game thread. I may incur a few warning points for this lack of respect but felt compelled to do it anyway. Sorry Chief! I'm truly thankful that I got to enjoy a 100+ loss season with Twins fans around the world. I didn't realize I could have fun watching my favorite team while riding such a losing streak. You guys made it a fun year. Imagine the fun that we'll have when the team starts winning again! In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, here is what I am most thankful for regarding the Minnesota Twins: New GM and PBONew catcher. Go Castro!
