  1. I meant this season. If he would have been on the roster and in the lineup as the DH most days. Obviously not last season...
  2. I honestly think if Park would have gotten a full season of AB's he could have hit .250 ish with 30 homers. Hoping he's up very soon. Disappointed that he didn't make the roster.
  3. I've got no problem with him hitting third. I just didn't think there was any way it would happen until he'd had more success at the MLB level. Last September was great, don't get me wrong, but he still K'd like 33% of the time during that time. I know it's only spring training, but he's cut back on the strikeouts quite a bit so far. I'm hoping that can continue. My hopes for Buxton are still very high. I agree with your take on his OBP and SLG. If the bat continues to develop and he can stay HEALTHY, he should be a lot of fun to watch for a long time. As far as the batting order goes, I wouldn't be opposed to something like this (if Buxton truly is going to hit third): 1- Mauer (not your prototypical leadoff hitter, but his OBP should look good here) 2- Dozier 3- Buxton 4- Sano 5- Kepler 6- Park (Still hoping he gets back on the 40 man and is the opening day DH) 7- Rosario 8- Castro 9- Polanco Thoughts?
  4. Molitor said today that Buxton won't be hitting in the lead off spot to start the year because "his bat is too valuable". He also said Buxton won't be in the 9 hole. They've been experimenting with him hitting third in the order. What do you guys think about this? Also, what are your predictions for the opening day batting order? What would YOU like the order to look like?
  5. First time poster here. First, when the time comes (assuming they continue to develop), we need to retain our young hitters like Buxton, Sano, and Kepler. I think we can all agree on that. Second, the pitching has to improve. Again, stating the obvious here. We have a few guys that look promising such as Fernando Romero and Gonsalves, but we need more. Hopefully whoever we draft first overall this season (Hunter Greene, please) pans out and will be ready for the majors within a few years. We need Berrios to finally break through this year and be the guy we thought he would be. We need Mejia to be serviceable. I know we are unlikely to land Arrieta, Tanaka, Darvish, etc, but in my opinion we need to at least try. We have a ton of cap space available going forward, and I think it makes more sense to pay a guy who has proven he is an ace than it does to sign a few Ricky Nolasco types and hope for the best. Third, and semi off-topic to this discussion, but I think Molitor needs to be shown the door. Let Falvey bring in his own guy. In my opinion, Molitor has not helped the development of our young players. Obviously not all of this falls on him, but I think a lot of it does. Last, I want to get you guys' thoughts on something. If Dozier has another good season and we don't move him at the trade deadline for prospects, do you think we should/would extend his contract? I wrestle with what the right move is regarding Dozier all the time. Part of me thinks that we are missing our chance to sell high on our best asset. The other part of me thinks that if we aren't going to get a good enough offer to deal him, then we need to extend him. If we don't trade him and he leaves in free agency, I think it is a complete waste. Just my two cents. Let me know what you guys think!
