You forgot Berrios is still pitching. Count is at 65 pitches. WOW!

I would love to see a reporter after the game ask this question to Molitor: What made you decide to bat Shafer 5th? What was your thought process? Enlighten the idiots that have watched over 100 games on TV this year...Especially the TD crowd.

Next year should deliver better results. I really do like the "core" group of youth coming through the system now: Sano, Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Vargas, Rosario. I don't think its a far fetched idea to say this group will be in a real pennate race someday. How soon will depend on what we can cobble together for a pitching staff and bullpen. Onward and upward!

Maybe this thread should be restarted sometime in mid January when the pain and anger have slowly started to ebb. http://cdn-media-2.lifehack.org/wp-content/files/2014/02/quote-Andy-Dufresne-hope-is-a-good-thing-maybe-the-255198.png

"Tell me if you've heard this before...." Yes, I have. I say it every year when I tell my wife I'm dropping 20 lbs. By the way, when did this thread turn into a Jenny Craig/ Weight Watchers commercial? P.S. Stay away from the carbs Sano! http://www.trektoday.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/KirstieAlleyApr2014.jpg

Oh I hope not. I'm usually one of the most optimistic fans out there. However, based on what I've witnessed the last few years that rotation would be horrible. As I mentioned in another post yesterday: That lineup does not overwhelm anyone nor strike fear into an opposing team. They truly are mediocre at best (and that is being generous). Some of those guys remind me of names in the past: Blackburn, Baker, etc., etc.,

DRAFT PITCHING! If you get a really good 1st round kid that's not a pitcher, TRADE HIM FOR A PITCHER!

I think Buxton is going to turn out just fine. He really does look more confident and at ease playing the game. He will do well next year.

I honestly think with the exception of Ervin every other rotation spot is open. Berrios may have some upside next year but I'm cautiously optimistic. I watched enough of this disaster the last few years that I don't like any of them. No one is over powering, no one strikes fear with the opposing teams. The offense is decent, the defense is awful (but hopefully can get better) and the pitching is a TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE. It would be easy to say go into the FA market and buy some arms but that is a very risky proposition. Keep bringing up the young talent and see who sticks. I was hoping the rebuild would have been 75% complete by now but I'm afraid its going to be a number of years until we have a quality pitching staff. Seriously, if we are depending on or looking to use May, Gibson, Mejia, Hughes and Santiago next year it is a very depressing staff. Based on what I've seen so far, a generous compliment would be to call them back of the rotation type guys...They probably fit into the category of mediocre or just below that line. We haven't even started taking about the bullpen yet....

I'll be happy if he can just do it next year for the entire season.
