  1. This is a good trade for both teams. IKF is better than you all think...it's tough to lose Garver, but this move makes sense.
  2. Fair points. But with Yadier, Wainwright, Goldschmidt, and even Arenado to some degree, the Cardinals might go for it all this year and next. After that, they might be in for a long rebuild any way. A playoff rotation of Flaherty, Berrios, and Wainwright is not bad, especially when it seems everything is up for grabs this year.
  3. This is one of those situations where you see who is willing to overpay at the deadline. If you get an amazing deal, you say so long to Jose and rebuild in '22. If not blown away, hang on tight and try one more time for an extension in the off-season. Don't trade him just to trade him. I could see a team like the Cardinals pulling the trigger with 2 of their top guys (#30/31).
  4. Not likely, no. But if the Mets continue to struggle to score runs, and if their 3B keeps getting hurt (which he has over and over again), they might sacrifice a little D for a little O and have Sano play 3B. A DH in the NL also seems inevitable. But correct-this trade would have to happen a bit later down the road, and would be a "change of scenery" type scenario for both players. Lindor Conforto Polar Bear Sano This could do some damage.
  5. I wonder what a package including Sano for Syndergaard would look like. Sano + who? Any ideas? If we could get Sano to heat up for a month or two first, obviously that would help.
  6. Paxton and Tanaka. Best 2 SPs out there....and have them spill the beans on as much inside-Yankee info as possible. We need to beat the Yankees any way possible.
  7. Good point-and this would be nice in many ways. The only counter argument I have is that baseball is many of these gentlemen's chance of leaving a pretty rough life in some pretty rough areas...
  8. Point taken-but it will still be a role of the dice for anyone to sign him. A "good" offer on a contender might be enough-especially if he wants to stick it to Cle for trading him (who knows).
  9. I would not be surprised if Kluber takes the biggest one year deal to prove himself and sign one more longer term contract next offseason. Maybe a 1yr deal with club option? Year 1: 10 mil Year 2 Club Option: 15 mil (maybe a 3 mil buyout?)
  10. Story's home/away splits scare me...a lot more than Baez's 2020 season. I would be very happy trading for Baez or signing Simmons.
  11. Offer Nelly 2/20 and Bauer 2/80. Do it. Do it.
  12. I guess for me, you could flip a coin for Berrios/Maeda to start game 1. What I was ultimately getting at in my original post was that those 2 and Hill will be more effective if Hill is sandwiched in between. If any team is going to go far in the playoffs, they are going to need good starting pitching from everyone, and good pitching overall.
  13. That's definitely a fair take. I'm looking at it as...We at least split the first 2 games, then have Maeda in the decider. If Hill struggles early, and we are down 0-1, Maeda is ready to go.
  14. There really something is to a complementary rotation...not letting a lineup get a good feel for similar SP. Because of this: Jose Hill Maeda Pineda
  15. 1) Nelly is so important to this team/lineup 2) Berrios is peaking at the right time 3) Glad they mentioned 10 year Sunday night baseball gap. Made ESPN look bad. Little frickers.
  16. My dad's name is Mark Erickson. Just sayin.
  17. Things are already bat$hit crazy, and we have a ton of capital. Why not trade for and extend Lindor?
  18. Donaldson and Fred Freeman were also pretty good last year. Another way to look at it might be the most combined HRs/RBI for a CI duo...
  19. Ehire and others can easily replace him. Would rather cut him loose and spread a message.
  20. His offensive potential is icing on the cake to our roster. We have a lot of frosting. Muy delicioso.
  21. I would love it if ONE time a player would say, "I'm sorry I got caught cheating." They would look bad, but at least in a refreshingly honest way! There is probably less than 1% chance the Twins drop Marwin. I know this discussion was in another thread. The more I think about it, I would be okay if they did drop him. Maybe THAT'S why we sold that draft pick! To Pay for Marwin and drop him!
  22. Consider me under the "flip a coin" category if I think the Twins won this deal. Few thoughts: -most Dodger fans say, "Maeda is good. You will like him. But he nibbles too much and usually gives you a strong 5." -Maeda obviously has a ton more experience than Graterol. -it feels like our rotation is full of 5 inn guys...hope our pen is strong. -could Grateful have been a 5 inn guy also? Only time will tell. -If our rotation fills out in a couple of years, without Maeda, no reason we can't trade him again to a pitcher-starved team (and maybe get a decent pitching prospect for him). Who knows. But it feels damn good trying to win!
  23. On the flipside...and a silver lining moment for myself...I took a second to reflect on how good Maddux, Pedro, Mussina etc. were. They were facing roided up batters who knew the pitch that was coming. I played college ball and pitched ("pitched"). Those hitters were frightening. Cannot imagine the best hitter beefcakes knowing your every move. I'd pee on the mound.
