My thoughts on him being 27 is that in reality it's closer to 25 since an entire MiLB season was wiped out due to COVID in 2020. That a loss of develpomental time and IMO equates to closer to 2 years in development.
I believe that is actually #12 he is wearing. He had that in spring 1982 and at some point him and Faedo switched numbers, as Faedo is listed with 8 in the 1982 Media Guide.
Can confirm this. Heard it from Carew himself when I spent an hour with him a few years back at a STH exclusive meeting. He said that he feels unwelcome there and was insulted when he offered to do stuff for the team and was told no thanks.
Astros, although not this year, Yankees (dad/grandpa were fans, before the Twins existed), and even though I hate Philly fans, the Phillies have ben fun the last few years.
Not a main roster move but veteran RP Nick Whittgren signed to a minor league deal, assigned to Wichita. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot in MLB at some point.
