  1. If Buxton doesn't extend in the future, he will be replaced by Lewis or Celestino. If the injury is over a week or so, I would like to see the most ready of the two.
  2. Our benevolent owner won't stroke the pen for 33M in 2020. If the Astros foot bill in 2020, I'd offer board favorites The Turtle, Trevor May, and Romero. That's 2 starting pitchers right?
  3. We also know they let Ryu walk, without even a whisper of an extension.
  4. Going forward, we should be able to take care of our relief pitching needs internally. Nothing wrong with picking up a spare part or so in free agency, but it really isn't necessary. This is a major breakthrough.
  5. I've been a member a long time. I'll never get tired of hearing our favorite team was the smartest and made the best move. The crow fest wasn't that long ago.
  6. Great move by our favorite team. Ryu is the Titanic.
  7. Left him in too long. Twins lose the pennant.
  8. That's not the only thing $0 in dead money demonstrates. Also, you're confusing the time between World Championships with rebuilding.
  9. It's also a big indicator we are no longer in a full rebuild.
  10. The Cubbies need a #4 or #5 right now. More likely is trading Darvish's decline years and money for The Turtle. I should mention Darvish has a no trade clause until after the 2021 season.
  11. We have no idea what TR would have done. My hope is Bailey and/or Chacin can be dealt for a starting pitching prospect in A ball at some point in time.
  12. MLBTR reported we discussed an extension 2 previous years, and speculated we would again this offseason. We need him, this season and 2021. By 2022, he can be replaced by our farm system etc. We are not being held hostage.
  13. Every time someone mentions an IFA, it's a TR success story. He's the gift that keeps on giving.
  14. Actually it's very insightful. Let's try to explain what's perfectly clear another way. Our buds the Yankees have at best a marginal farm system. Their 4th best prospect would be on our late teens or early twenties. By the time Gil debuts, which is far from guaranteed, Cave will have spent time in The Show for 5 or 6 years. No way we can lose this trade.
  15. Few teams have done better than us in IFA for over 10 years. You spot them when they're 14, sign them when they're 16, then the development begins. Few do it better on a consistent basis.
  16. No way we are going to lose the Cave/Gil trade. He's pitched 3 games of A+ ball?
  17. You don't trade him because of his versatility. You can plug a top prospect into 3 or 4 positions. Further, you don't sell low.
  18. One thing we can count on, if we don't win the final game, some of our members will consider the season a failure.
  19. The Turtle is a board favorite, Cave is a board scapegoat. The scapegoats always outperform the favorites on TD.
  20. If Buxton goes down for an extended period of time, don't be surprised if we see Lewis.
  21. His versatility should keep him #1. Falvey values depth. With Lewis we can move a top prospect to 3 or 4 different positions.
  22. We may never know until the book comes out. What we do know is, one of the 3 or 4 teams will the most starting pitching prospects, found a willing partner in the land of the cattle and the wheat and the folks that can't be beat.
