  1. Low risk, high reward. MLBTR, MLB.com, and FanGraphs all liked the move for Hill. I'll let them know you didn't.
  2. King Theo will only draft college position players in the first round. He doesn't draft the best player available, while I believe we do. I really don't follow it that closely, but read this year's draft is all about college pitchers.
  3. Maybe I'm the only one who noticed, but we don't do the opener thing. The Rays did it out of desperation due to the lack of starters. We have them coming out of our ears.
  4. It's no mystery to me. The offense is better, the defense is better. The bullpen improved, and now our starting pitching has improved.
  5. You're minimizing. He pitched one inning on the last day of the season. On another site it was referred to as his farewell tour which Arizona generously granted. One inning is not encouraging when they didn't even wait to look at him in ST. Walker's injury is unique, and has nothing to do with Pineda or any other player. I would give him no more than a 1% chance of being able to provide 140-160 innings even in 2021, or whatever you so choose to call a normal starter's workload.
  6. A mid-market team needs to be in the hunt to improve every day. The trade market is just starting to heat up. No doubt the list of sellers will expand at the deadline, but IMO the first #3 we can obtain and the heavy lifting is done.
  7. I think you're making it too complicated. It's up to those 3 to force the issue. These things have a way of working themselves out.
  8. Conjecture is he can't pass a physical. Regardless, building up to starter's innings may well take 2 years. No easy answers.
  9. I would wait on Price and go 3 years for 36M. At some point in time Boston will be forced to shed payroll. I can't see our benevolent owner going 3 for 48M.
  10. IMHO, Gonzalez in much better than Adrianza. I see Gordon replacing Adrianza in 2021 and Gonzalez becoming a free agent.
  11. MLB.com said Arizona cut him to save money on his final year of arbitration. I assume that makes him a free agent next year. But you're right, he's a free agent now with 5 years of service. Maybe I got it wrong.
  12. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"
  13. He's a free agent after the season, and still needs to prove he's healthy. No way he can build up his innings to start. Do we need another reliever?
  14. It's actually much more like reading the 2 Walker threads a couple days ago. Seems the 1 inning he pitched in the final game of season was intended as a farewell tour. He can't pass a physical. No way he'll get a nice bump like Perez.
  15. Our starting pitching in Rochester matches up just fine with America's Team.
  16. Why not divvy them up and make them play for Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Detroit, Miami, or Kansas City?
  17. Agree. We now have 4 healthy arms for 1.25 spots.
  18. Baseball isn't Sunday School.
  19. The GM for America's Team was hired several weeks before TR and King Theo. With the Reinsdorf checkbook, he was able to thrill Chicago fans with 7 consecutive losing seasons. Why not check back prior to the 2022 season, to see if they have figured out they're a large market team yet?
  20. Babe Ruth was definitely a choir boy.
  21. Name 5 teams where Berrios would clearly be a middle rotation guy. For your convenience, MLB.com just listed every team's rotation.
  22. There is a better chance of The Turtle making the HOF, than Gonzalez being cut.
  23. MLB.com just rated our overall offseason as excellent. Their power ranking have us 4th. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
  24. The Twins ended 4th. All's well that ends well. Also, they recently said our overall offseason was excellent.
  25. MLB.com currently has Cleveland rated 14th on their power ranking, down from 11th where they ended lasted season. They spent pennies in free agency. I don't expect them or America's Team even hanging around til the deadline.
