    It's really very simple. Instead of having a comment policy of 500+ lines, in most cases long time members do the moderating. If a poster sounds like they are not there to support our favorite team thru thick and thin, they are not welcome to be part of the community.

    Most likely they with come up with 2. They just aren't going to spend stupid money on the likes of Darvish or Pat Corbin. Take a look at what Baseball-Reference considers similar pitchers to Corbin. You will recognize some names.

    Luck had nothing to do with it. I recall reading where several national writers stated our off season was sneaky good. Falvey isn't being extended after there were vague rumors the Red Sox were interested in him, because he's lucky.

    It's not at all like Phil Hughes. He had a great year, our FO was very savvy to sign him to an extension. Then injuries derailed his career, as it has some many others. Injuries are part of the game, hindsight isn't.

    Agreed. If I had young kids, I would steer them to the forum on Twinkie Town. There's enough negativity in the world, no need to experience it on a fan board.

    Eavin Santana was just as premier as Jack Morris when he was signed.

    Our friends at Twinkie Town gave our deadline moves a B, and the acquisition of Dyson individually an A-. At no time did they refer to them as impact arms. I did read several times, including recently by our very own Ted, that Dyson was the highest rated bullpen arm to change teams.

    On a recent chat on MLBTR, they took a survey on this very question. 60% of the voters disagreed with you.

    None of the 4 would come anywhere near being considered an "impact pitcher", nor did they receive "impact pitcher" money.

    Darvish was very good the last half season. So he has paid for his bad contract 25% of the time. He will be 36 in contract year five and 37 in contact year six. He is a huge injury risk. Due to his very good half season, King Theo has a fair chance of making Cubbie fans the happiest they have been since 2016, by moving his bad contract.

    The rumor was Kirilloff and Lewis for Thor. Buxton was to be the headliner for Stroman. I wouldn't have made either of those deals.

    Our favorite team picked up 2 solid relievers at the trade deadline for little or nothing. They have enough prospects to get what many, including some of the national experts will view as good starters.

    Who said they won't get 2 good pitchers? They may even pick up 3. Don't confuse free agent pitchers with good pitchers. Free agency has been the market of last resort for many years, and it's become even more clear the past 2 off-seasons.

    The Mets recently said he won't be traded. Also, MLB.com had him as one of the 20 most overrated players. Looks like another Chris Archer to me.

    The past is not a perfect predictor of the future. To me it's a foregone conclusion the new regime will have another solid off-season.

    Escobar wanted to test the free agent market pure and simple. We're still going to win the Pressly trade. Selling high is always a good move. Always.

    No truer words ever spoken. When I need a good laugh, I often go back to the Darvish meltdown thread.

    Spend some time on the Cubbie Board. It's pretty widespread the window is prematurely closing due to King Theo's lousy free agent signings. He would most likely take board favorite Nick Anderson even up, if the Rays would pick up the remainder of Darvish's contract.
