  1. Mike Radcliff said on Inside Twins, you need to start following them at 14, or it's too late.
  2. Bird, I read on MLBTR King Theo spend 16.4M on IFA in 2015. His prize signing, Eloy Jimenez, was then traded to the Pale Hose, for a back of the rotation starting pitcher. Last I looked, their farm system was the lowest rated in all of baseball.
  3. So they won 11 less games because teams that win 102 games generally regress and they had no incentive to win as many in 2018. Sounds to me, you're just making excuses. I put a lot of stock in the owner's assessment, and there is no standard fare for MLB owners. Kluber and Bauer being available may not mean much to you, but it certainly does to them, their teammates, and Cleveland fans.
  4. The Cubbies and Red Sox said no mas due to luxury penalties. Houston most likely will be one of the next. Also, Falvey told all of us on Inside Twins, that was the best deal and it was too good to pass up. You really think those who rate prospects are always going to agree? I you don't make that trade, what trade do you make at the deadline?
  5. I agree. We have a logjam of pretty good hitters at OF/1B/DH. It's a nice problem to have, but I don't see where they all will fit in. With so many teams in some form of rebuild, I think the trade deadline will be wild this year and an opportunity to take a shot at shoring up our pitching.
  6. They won 11 less games than 2017 and Dolan the owner recently stated they were losing money. Last I looked payroll is at 112M. When a team starts dumping salaries, it's usually all over. Also, it was certainly no secret that Kluber and Bauer were both available this offseason.
  7. What's your point? Pressly brought the best return. Are you saying we should turn down the best deal and be content only with lesser deals? Also, no way in the world we were going to extend a relief pitcher. We have bigger fish to fry. The Astros are or will be right up against the luxury tax. Take a look at who they will be losing after next season. No way they can kept them all if they extend relief pitchers.
  8. Nope. It will turn out to be an excellent trade for us. 2 solid prospects for a little over a year of a relief pitcher. If you don't make that trade, what trade do you make at the deadline?
  9. Last I looked payroll was at 124M or about 5M under last season. I would guess we will makes moves at the trade line which should take us into the highest ever territory for the second year in a row.
  10. I think they have decent depth at Rochester. I'm more comfortable with Eades, Harper, Collins and Morin than I was in past years. So glad they didn't go dumpster diving.
  11. He's a proven vet who has had a nice career. Let's not forget, last year at this time we had members who wanted to DFA Pressly. We need to let it play out.
  12. I would add Eades as depth also. Louisiana high school player of the year and MVP of the Cape Cod League. Never understood why he didn't make it. Very good last half season last year. The easy answer for a stable bullpen is Addison Reed. Need to let that play out.
  13. He's not on any team. That's as good an excuse as any.
  14. If you recall, the board had kittens when we signed Sanchez. It was a plan C move which became redundant when we signed Lynn shortly thereafter.
  15. Most teams have trouble developing young pitchers. Let's not pretend it's unique to the Twins. Also, we currently have Stewart, Gonsalves, and Thorpe at Rochester, and most likely Romero. That certainly puts us in the top half of all teams.
  16. We don't need another David Ortiz. Park his ass on the bench. He's still cheap. The last chance notice is still several years away.
  17. Reed has a long leash. You can always stash him on the DL. Don't forget, last year at this time we had members who wanted to DFA Pressly.
  18. A very solid off-season! Did you know for the first time in the history of TD, the board has embraced not one, but two signings? Cruz and Gonzalez. Big step forward for the board. The I'm smarter than the FO clique can not be happy at all.
  19. If the search committee had picked me, I'd be looking to package Larnach and/or Rooker for that mythical ace.
