  1. If Trevor May was our 12th best asset, Parker is 10th or 11th.
  2. As I recall, that was a Carl Pohlad mandate.
  3. I don't care about mythical aces, ace is a very overused term. My hope is Thorpe fills the middle of the rotation starting in 2020. Finally we have 3 lefties, Gonsalves, Mejia, and Thorpe, vying for spots. Pitching is a numbers games, percentages are on our side.
  4. I don't have to find anything. Next time you speak with him, ask him if he has ever said to the media, he had occasional back issues in the minors.
  5. Thorpe is one of the reasons I'm not overly concerned we appear to have glowing holes in the 2020 rotation. TR always said you send the best 5 out there, whatever hand they throw with. I like having a lefty.
  6. I like the idea of bringing in two relievers for 2 years and around 20M total. I would have Lewis, Kirilloff, and Javier as my untouchables, the rest I have no problems dealing. In seems half the teams in baseball are in some form of rebuild and the new regime has thus far shown they are astute traders. Open up the farm system and trade for a youngish mythical ace.
  7. He was on the DL 4 times in 2015 and 2016. In an interview, he mentioned a chronic back issue, which also bothered him in the minors.
  8. We have members who want him to close. For a closer, IR is not an arbitrary number. If the Twins could get starting pitching trade value for May, he would be gone in a heartbeat. My agenda is Pro-Twins.
  9. Until he dies, members are going to want him to go back to being a starter. He hasn't started in The Show since 2015. I watched every game in September. He pitched himself back into the mix, but no more than that. If the numbers show he is on par with the best relievers, look for different numbers. Off the top of my head, look at inherited runners.
  10. My biggest problem with Molly was I thought he always burnt his bullpen out. Pressly in 2017 and Reed last year. Don't get me wrong, we need to spend big on a bullpen arm with some closing experience, but I wouldn't doubt the coaching change has an impact also.
  11. Trevor May continues to be the most overrated player in the history of TD. Austin is starting to give him a run though.
  12. Reed is a good candidate to rebound. Also, he has trade value. Let's not forget, we had members who wanted to DFA Gibson and Pressly before last season.
  13. I think catching is a numbers game also. I like our organizational depth, but have no clue who will come out on top. Maybe our Cedar Rapids guys have some idea. We didn't get a catcher at the trade deadline, so I took that to mean we are not unhappy with our depth. Note, we only took one lefty at the deadline. I took that to mean we like our organizational depth, after taking 3 at the deadline in 2017.
  14. What a difference a day on the fan board makes. No doubt they will add a reliever with closing experience. I'm guessing they will trade for a 2/3. Look for much unhappiness when we trade some of our moderate prospects.
  15. I'm guessing Seattle is in the rebuild mode. Seattle is an excellent example of why mid-market teams can't act like large market teams. Arizona is another. Give Jeter credit for moving Stanton.
  16. I agree he's is a solid piece, but he'll be in Rochester. Depth is a good thing.
  17. Plenty of time. Remember, they got Cave for a 19-year old pitcher in rookie ball. They got Odorizzi for our 4th best SS prospect. They traded the 74th pick in the 2018 draft for 7.25M. At the trade deadline, they picked up 11-12 prospects for essentially 2 month rentals. The new regime has got it going on. The Impatient Brigade is just going to have to learn to wait.
  18. We're not going to pretend every other team wouldn't have made the same decision we did are we? There are tough decisions and there are easy ones. This was a no-brainer. If he wants to make the big bucks in the next few years, there is only one team he can talk to. That phenomenon is called team control. If his nose gets bent out of shape and he decides to leave as a free agent, the new regime has proven themselves as being very astute in the trade market. It's a win-win situation.
  19. I see very few quality options. Too many still confuse free agency with Christmas, which it hasn't been for years. Free agency is the market of last resort for most teams.
  20. This is really well done!
