  1. I think my sarcasm meter is broken. How 'off the charts' do they have to be to make up 70 points in batting average we can probably gain with Garver?
  2. Jim P. needs to run to the bank real quick first. Someone bring a defibrillator. .
  3. +1. Let's stick with him and return Belisle to his intended role.
  4. I'm sure he's a great guy in the clubhouse and it's great that he took the ball a few times. But he hits .190 and is average (at best) defensively. Meanwhile, Garver has been overdue for a call up for a month. I know everyone here already know this, but can anyone who carry's the FO's water tell us what the holdup is?
  5. Even though he's given up runs the past two games, I'd like to give Hildenberger a shot. If Pressly keeps pitching like this, maybe him, but I'm not quite a believer that he's "fixed" yet.
  6. How much could we get the Tigers to eat of Verlander's contract? Or Zimmerman's? I see Zimmerman as a good buy low option if they would eat like half of it. Unlikely I know.
  7. So in his 3rd start when he went 6 1/3 with 3 ER against Oakland that 'sucked'? Give me a break. Overall, Colon has been far better than any of the #5's we've trotted out and frankly better than Santiago post May 1st and Gibson. And I find it fascinating to watch him pitch. I don't get the bitterness.
  8. Grossman is a poor man's Mauer. I'm not suggesting that Vargas replace Mauer. But he should be up here playing 1B 1-2 times per week and and DH'ing 3-4 times per week. Mauer plays better when he gets 1-2 days/week off and Grossman shouldn't be playing every day. We don't need a DH who hits .240 with no power, no matter how many walks he draws. Demanding to have 8 pitchers and having a 3-man bench with 2 back-up SS's blows. I'm glad Polanco is back but unless they're willing to cut bait with Adrianza (or Grossman), they need to find a way to make do with 7 in the bullpen.
  9. Frustrating they couldn't figure out a different move other than sending Vargas back again. Mauer is running on fumes. It would be nice to have a 1B other than .195 GImenez. Molitor didn't seem pleased with the totality of the moves.
  10. I still think Polanco can be a .280 hitter with good gap power. As little and as poorly as he's played, he just hit his 18th double tonight. Rosario hit is 22nd. Pretty surprising. He's got to pick the defense back up though. Ultimately, I think he can be an above average 2B on both ends.
  11. Your math is a bit off. 14 million and 900K are not the #s. CA has ~50 million people and 55 EV. ~1 million people per electoral vote. Wyoming has ~750K people and 3 EV. ~250K per EV. Votes in Wyoming have approximately 4 times as weight as CA. I'm not sure what the turnout %'s are for each state, but I'd be surprised if they're more than 10% apart, so the math wouldn't change much.
  12. I thought back-to-back was Belisle's kryptonite? Glad he made it through. Who closes tomorrow?
  13. I'd rather get Vargas up here than worry about claiming Alonzo. If Pressly is 'fixed', send down Busenitz. He hasn't pitched in a week. We don't need 8 relievers. And obviously get Garver up and send our clean-up hitting back-up catcher on his way.
  14. Sure. Or give Buxton a shot. Both equally viable to Molly.
  15. As dumb as that was, Redmond hit about 100 points higher than Giminez.
  16. If ever circumstances screamed for moving Dozier down in the order it was this
  17. Fire Molitor right now. Even Gardy had enough shame never to bat Redmond clean-up
  18. Impressive and watch to watch Colon do that with that stuff. I hope Mejia is watching closely.
  19. Get Dozier the $%^ out of the lead-off spot. Get Vargas and Garver up.
  20. There are things they can do to see younger players without tanking. Let's have Garver up here catching half the time. Let's have Vargas DH'ing instead of Grossman. Let's try Hildenberger as closer rather than Belisle, etc.
  21. It seems unlikely he's back next year. So maybe arrange for him to step aside or switch roles and give Dougie M. a look. If he does finish the year, I'd like to see some flexibility from him. Like stick with Mauer and Escobar at the top of the line-up and drops Dozier to 5th or 6th. And try Hildenberger at closer rather than running Duffey out there to predictable results.
  22. Most likely. But giving one of them a trial makes more sense than Molitor managing out the string. They intended to bring someone in from outside in 1986 too. They changed their mind.
  23. If only there were things we could do to improve the offense. Like DL Polanco and get Vargas back. And DA Giminez and get Garver up. And try someone else in the lead-off spot. But alas, nothing can be done.
  24. I'd say Molitor's chances of managing in 2018 are 25% at best. Given that, I'd rather give Dougie M or Mauer (Jake) a 2-month try out.
  25. Guys to try out at closer Hildenberger Curtis Busenitz
