  1. *checks calendar* Yep, right on time. Should be a fun few months for Dozier fans
  2. I'll take Joe over whoever they take in the Rule 5. He's one of my favorite Twins players in my fandom. I don't have expectations of him being great in 2019 and I fully admit it's for nostalgia. It's going to be a long, long time until there's another Twins player that plays 15+ seasons with the team. I'm going to enjoy the last period of time he'll play professionally.
  3. The Twins waste the 25th roster spot all the time on people not worthy of the spot. Waiver wire pickups, rule 5 players, etc. I can't think of a better person that deserves it next year than Joe Mauer.
  4. In spirit of bringing the original topic back... They're not calling up Gordon. He's not ready, nor should they start his service time/option clock now. Get ready for the Taylor Motter show! Or some other middle IF waiver wire pickup.
  5. I was crucified on this very website for saying Dozier is better than Escobar in May...
  6. As far as bad contracts, I'd take Bryan Shaw off their hands. His stats are terrible this year but he was an iron man for Cleveland...
  7. Yes I do. If there's one thing the new regime has done is show ownership creative ways to acquire better talent by taking on additional payroll or eating more of a bad contract.
  8. Why hasn't Reed spent time on the DL? If a pitcher has lost 3-4 MPH on his fastball over the previous year isn't that a classic tell tale sign that he's hurt?
  9. His track record of last year hitting 38 HRs? I didn't watch Morrison last year, but this year I don't see anything to like about his approach at the plate. They could and should DFA him soon.
  10. That's a good angle. Do you see the position scarcity getting better any time soon? Perhaps Wilson Contreras beats him out as best C in the league one day but he's firmly top 2 IMO for the foreseeable future. The C position in baseball reminds me of the TE position in football. There's scarcity there too, especially fantasy football, which makes Gronk and Travis Kelce particularly valuable. If you have a distinct advantage at one position, it takes the pressure off needing really good players to make up for the bad player playing C.
  11. We've been told it takes longer to develop a catcher on the farm. Garver is 2 months older than Realmuto, so are we not supposed to expect improvement from him? It's only going to get worse behind the plate?
  12. What makes you believe Realmuto is at peak value? He's still young enough to improve, no?
  13. At that point, Buxton, Sano, and Berrios are 2-3 years away from free agency. Best to wait until the next next wave of prospects comes up to supplement the prospects of 2020. And by 2024 this core will be gone, the wave of prospects we were waiting on in 2020 is 2-3 years away from free agency. Best to wait until the next next next wave of prospects to come up in 2028 before making a big trade.
  14. This seems like putting the cart before the horse if I'm reading this correctly. Lewis, Kiriloff, and Graterol are going to be better players than Buxton, Sano, and Berrios?
  15. I would love to acquire either one of those pitchers.
  16. That's because you did read those posts in past years. I'm going to fill you in on a dirty little secret. If you keep pushing out the timeline 3 years from now, no one will notice! It's also the beauty of prospect reports. Prospects are more mysterious and intriguing if they're 3 years from their 'ETA'
  17. Meniscus. I don't understand your logic. The rehab is taking 5-6 months and he's missing the rest of the season. That's not a major injury?
  18. Option 1 requires a lot of hope that things work out. And you want to rely on Castro starting again after a torn ACL?
  19. It's either going to take a gem of a prospect + middle tier prospects, or 2-3 good to great prospects. Depends on what Miami prefers. The debate in TX is whether they should offer Kyle Tucker #15-20 overall prospect or Forrest Whitley #10 overall + C/B- level prospects.
  20. That's true for all sports. Who cares. It's not meant for us. It's meant for the 10 year old version of ourselves that thought it was really cool all of the stars were on one field. At least the game doesn't determine who gets home field advantage in the World Series. Which may be the dumbest sports decision ever.
  21. Thanks for the recommendation of Succession. I'm interested to see where that story goes.
  22. It's not like Mauer is playing every day right now. There's room next year to have him play 100 games as a fill in starter at 1B/DH. I think we're putting the cart before the horse with Rooker. Let him earn his way into the lineup instead of handing it to him.
