    Sigh... I'm getting really tired of opposing pitchers looking like a combination of Chris Sale and Justin Verlander every time they play the Twins...

    Sano is one of the few legit threats we have at the plate, so he needs to stay put IMO... Escobar hasn't been hitting either. Last 14 days he's batting .225 0 HR 2 RBI .512 OPS. His stats are worse over the last 7 days. I agree waiting for someone to heat up and jack HRs is getting old. I'd love to see more hit and runs and small ball stuff to make something happen.

He has a maxed-out 6-foot-4 frame, has been traded twice in the last two years, sits 87-90 or 89-91 depending on when you see him but can reach back for a 93 or 94 occasionally, and doesn’t have a plus pitch or plus command. That would normally point to an organizational player who doesn’t project for a big-league career of any consequence, but Littell is now in Triple-A and keeps performing, figuring out ways to set up hitters and get them out. His curveball flashes 55 at times, his changeup is average to a hair above, and he mixes in a slider against right-handers: the weapons are not overwhelming. Scouts will always question how effective he can be, and it’s likely that his big-league career is as a back-end starter barely surviving on guile and filling in as a long reliever at times. Because we don’t completely understand why Littell keeps performing, we’ll stick him here. [shrug emoji.]

    Not sure I haven't seen him pitch... His recap on Fangraphs mentioned he sits 89-91 with his FB and no plus offspeed pitch. So I asked that in hopes to get clarification from someone who's seen him pitch.

    Good read thanks for sharing. It's probably best just to avoid players with this injury until there's a better success rate like TJS these days... The general consensus is there's a drop in performance post surgery. And no rhyme or reason why a select few bounce back like Jaime Garcia. Overall it sounds like an unnecessary headache and disappointment.

    What am I missing on Zach Littell where his stock is rising? Does he still sit 89-91 with his fastball and no plus offspeed pitch? I'd put him behind Gonsalves, Slegers, and Mejia on the priority list of SP to call up.

    And one out of a million pitchers is Bartolo Colon... Who will never be left for dead and will pitch until he's 75.

    I think casual fans and diehards can unite and there won't be a marketing hit. Diehards have known for a long time that he's been cooked. Even casual observers can look at his stat line and see why he was let go. If he goes 13-8 and starts game 3 of someone else's post season game I will eat my own shorts.

    Like mikelink said, this isn't personal. We don't know Hughes the person. He may be the greatest person in the world. From a pure baseball perspective, I agree with him and thrilled he's no longer on roster. I don't like watching broken pitchers on my favorite team, and he's been broken for a long, long time.

    I think you hit the nail on the head here. Much like the pitching staff, the lineup was built with 7-8 average to above average bats that can't carry a team alone. When they're all working together in sync, we have a top 5 offense in the AL like the 2nd half last year. If they aren't in sync, it's tough to break out of the funk. It'll take a team effort to get out of this offensive hole.

    We're seeing that life without Buxton and Sano in the lineup producing isn't going to work long term. The pitching (minus Lynn) has held up their end of the bargain. This team needs both of them back and contributing otherwise they are going no where.

    That would be a nice role for him... But was/is he that good to handle a role like that? His performance as a RP before wasn't "fireman" like.
