  1. He stopped playing when Plouffe came back from injury, and when he cooled off from his hot streak. At that point last season, could Vargas get the nod over Plouffe? Sure, the season was already over. He went back to AAA to get every day at-bats to continue his growth. When he came back up in September he played every day, and continued to struggle. I'm just not that bothered by not giving him every day at-bats over a 2 week period, and I don't think they did him wrong by sending him back down to AAA at that time.
  2. They are developing Garver.... He'll get every day at-bats in AAA while Murphy or Gimenez finds at-bats when they can behind Castro. If Castro is hurt for a long period of time, Garver should and probably will get the call to be the every day MLB catcher.
  3. Wouldn't surprise me if Ben Paulsen became a dark horse 40 man add. Given his previous MLB experience and more position flexibility than Park.
  4. His playing time doesn't look all that sporadic to me... He played nearly every day in July, then every 3 days after he struggled for 2+ weeks, and back to every day after September call-ups.
  5. Big fan of LaMonte Wade. I've got to imagine the new regime loves his approach at the plate as well... The MLB team sorely needs a lead-off type hitter who can draw more walks than strikeouts.
  6. Feels like the writing is already on the wall... Especially if the Heyman report has merit that we're looking at any veteran DH with a pulse to join the team. Vargas will be in AAA again to start the season.
  7. Even though they all bat LH, they all do fairly well against LH pitching... For Granite, his splits are fairly similar between RH and LH, but he had over 200 PA's more against RH pitching... The story may be different if he had more PA's against LH pitching. RH - .296 / .348 OBP / .744 OPS LH - .291 / .345 OBP / .684 OPS Rosario certainly has more power against RH pitching, but he can still hold his own against lefties. Kepler hasn't proven to hit lefties well in the majors yet, but he showed he can do it in the minors.
  8. Barring any injury to the starting OF crew (Rosario, Buxton, or Kepler) I'd love to see Granite get the call to get his feet wet in the majors. Cross fingers for a full, healthy season from Burdi.
  9. Seth, question about LaMonte Wade... You said in the original post he's best suited for LF, but will play a lot of CF this year as well. Is there a particular reason why he's better suited for the corners, such as arm strength or speed?
  10. What did we expect as a return for 2 months of Abad? The Red Sox didn't put the wool over our eyes. Receiving a flawed prospect should be expected for a guy like Abad.
  11. I'm with you, Nick. Zero interest in 24 Legacy.
  12. Let's hope so... Rosario could play CF in a pinch, but I'd prefer seeing Granite there instead of Rosario moving over and Grossman playing in a corner spot.
  13. As I said in the other thread, this is the type of waiver wire move to make in order to end the D Santana era. There's probably a 10% chance Light gets claimed, so he'll end up in AAA. I'll like this move a lot more if Adrianza is also DFA'd so we can clean up this mess on the 40 man roster.
  14. I also did not know Hawley was attached to Legion. That alone will draw me to tune in, even though X-Men isn't really my thing. Hawley is approaching Coen Brothers territory, where if their name is attached to it, I'm giving it a chance.
  15. Agreed. Whether it's injury or ineffectiveness, this group of names will sort itself out soon enough.
  16. Another mind.boggling. thing about Atlanta's offense in the 4th quarter: They were snapping the ball with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. Overall they were playing like THEY were trailing in the 4th quarter, not the other way around.
  17. I need to jump back on Vikings.... Binged the first season or 2 on Amazon Prime, then forgot about it after that.
  18. It does in all of us.... I'm over the 1999 championship game.... The Falcons have been just as mediocre as the Vikings since that time. I'm very tired of the Cheatriots story. And this win will make their fan base as insufferable as ever.
  19. I enjoyed Gaga's halftime show... It was pretty smooth transitioning from one song to the next, and she was able to get the crowd choreographed with her dancing on stage which was cool to see. Apparently they had drones above them doing a light show, but we couldn't see it on the broadcast. The commercials were very meh this year. None stand out in my mind... We were doing prop bets at the party I attended such as first animal featured on a commercial, first car brand commercial, first pizza commercial, first fast food commercial, etc. I was getting crushed....
  20. Agreed... What was Shanahan thinking by abandoning the run? That Julio Jones amazing sideline catch should have been the final nail in the coffin... Run 3 times, burn a minute or so off the clock, kick a FG to go up 11 with 3-ish minutes left.
  21. My pen: Hughes (long reliever) Kintzler Pressly Rogers Belisle Chargois Open competition between Boshers / Hildenberger / Melotakis / other AAA reliever With the addition of Belisle, I'm not sure Haley sticks as a Rule 5 pick.... Tonkin experiment is over.
  22. My buddy is currently smoking brisket as well.... WAY more excited for the grub tonight than the game. Menu tonight: Brisket BBQ chicken sliders Queso Pizza dip Spinach dip Chili Cookies and other assorted desserts
