    You’re thinking about SWR for this year only. He’s making MLB minimum until the end of 2027. You’re making a bet at this time that SWR won’t be worth exploring the next 3-4 years of control. I find that wild since he’s been a 2 WAR pitcher the previous 2 seasons.

    Arizona is one of 3 teams I think are actively tanking. Cleveland and NYJ if none of those teams “earn” the 1st overall pick the bidding war will be insane.

    From their perspective, there’s almost no way to get fair trade value for a 1st ballot HOF type of player. Verse is from Ohio evidently so maybe he will have a little home state pride to turn that situation around. Agreed with you all they’re doing is setting up to take a QB right away in 2027. With ammo to spare if the Cardinals or Dolphins out-tank them.

    I love the trade for both teams. Rams have to go all in right now. Garrett doesn’t fit Cleveland’s timeline to compete. They get a stud young EDGE and premium 2027 draft capital.

    Also, not that it needs to be said, but Ryan Jeffers is a catastrophic loss for this team on multiple fronts. Alex Jackson isn’t an MLB caliber catcher - I think we all knew that anyway. Caratini isn’t any better and now getting ran on left and right.

    I agree there’s definitely more to the story. Hopefully one of the many beat writers gets to the bottom of it. I could envision SWR being upset about getting removed from the rotation after a rough 4-6 week stretch when he just witnessed the organization support Ober all of last season when he was terrible.

    The weather warmed up and the bats went ice cold. What is the hold up promoting Kaelen Culpepper to the majors? It certainly can’t be Tristan Gray and his .566 OPS in the last week. Ryan Kreidler isn’t playing SS anymore and neither is Brooks Lee. Hindsight is 20/20, but had they simply waited a day, SWR would have been needed on the MLB roster. It felt very short sighted to likely lose him for 1 day of bullpen help. Not much choice but to ride it out with the few young players we are playing in the field and the pitching staff. This isn’t a playoff team - let’s get the future underway.
