    Just like with QB development, the NFL has sped up the timeline for coaches to figure it out too. Another year like this one and we will absolutely be talking about firing KOC. Even the old hack of drafting a QB in the 1st round to buy another year doesn’t work anymore

    I appreciate you typing this out. This snippet in particular is very interesting to me. There has to be something the limited partners receive out of this. No corporation gives $250 million out of the goodness of their hearts for only a tiny bit of power. What’s the catch here?

    Yeah, when you strive for mediocrity that's what you get... It also doesn't help that they have been dang close to absentee owners since the start. My opinion about the Wilfs have been mostly favorable over the years, but damn when I heard that stat I was shocked at how little playoff success we've had in 21 years. I thought cheap ass McCombs was bad and we made it to 2 NFC Championship games under his tenure.

    A really damning stat about the Wilfs... 21 years owning the team - 8 playoff berths - 3 playoff wins Red McCombs' tenure - 7 years owning the team - 4 playoff berths - 4 playoff wins

    No matter what happens, I'm still giving McCarthy a fair shot at competing for the starting spot next year... The next 5 games determines what caliber of veteran QB we acquire to compete with him. If we see some actual improvement, like processing faster and god forbid mixing in some touch passes, then maybe we can get away with signing a Flacco type in FA. If it's more or less the same, then we probably have to trade a late round pick for a guy like Davis Mills, Jacoby Brissett, or Anthony Richardson. If McCarthy continues to regress, then we probably have to trade a 3rd round or higher pick for Mac Jones or Kyler Murray.

    And today Passan, the most plugged in guy, declaratively said Buxton is willing to waive it for Atlanta (specifics!) and other teams.

    Sure, but the way Passan wrote it makes me believe he's in the know of something in the works. He wrote it as a declarative statement "Buxton is willing to waive his no trade clause -- and not just for Atlanta." If he was simply speculating, he would write it as a question... "Would Buxton be willing to waive his no trade clause for Atlanta or other teams?"

    Passan wouldn’t say Buxton is willing to waive his no trade clause for more than 1 team without confirming it in the background. But I get it. You’re in denial.

    I’ve thought that would be a great spot for Flores as HC and can’t believe I haven’t thought of this possibility before. I like it a lot. Cincinnati is ripe for a defensive HC who can build one for cheap since they’re all in on Burrow, Chase and Higgins

    NFL hot take… Sounds like Pittsburgh fans are turning on Tomlin and after 20 years it’s probably time both move on. Wherever he goes next I think he goes on an Andy Reid type of run winning 2+ super bowls. He’s had jack squat at QB for the last 7-8 years and still keeps that team competitive
