  1. I would have loved to trade those pieces now to get an elite SS that solves a huge question mark in 2016-17-18-19. I don't believe buyer's markets come around too often, and we could be missing out on acquiring high end talent at Costco-like prices.
  2. If the Twins truly stand pat, no bullpen guys, no C, no SS acquisitions, then we can kiss the WC berth goodbye. I'm fine with trying internal options in the bullpen, literally throw names in a hat. But clearly someone on staff is either too loyal to the current players, or does not believe there are difference makers in the farm. The other positions I guess we're stuck with Santana/Escobar/Nunez at SS and Suzuki behind the plate. Idk I'm off my posting game today. It's not every year that a guy at Tulo's level is available and we weren't able to close a deal from the initial conversation with them. Just disappointing.
  3. Tulo was the Wendy Peffercorn, the Jenny from Forrest Gump. The guy I was targeting the most to join this team... Jose Reyes is still an above average SS and better than any option that we have on roster... but still. I'm going to view it as a disappointment if we do acquire him.
  4. UGH... I wanted Tulo on this squad... Even if there was a 0.1% chance I feel we could have outbid the Jays on this deal.
  5. All of your concerns were hashed out on the Tulo thread. That thread has become so daunting to go through so I won't have exact numbers. But it was brought to light that Tulo's road stats are still at elite levels at the SS position. It's your prerogative, but I would hardly call a 30 year old a declining, aging veteran.
  6. Spot on Chief, agree with you 100%. Twins should be taking advantage of the buyers market. Who knows what the market will be in July 2016.
  7. 1. Hound Rockies GM every day to get a Tulo trade in place. Gibson+Kepler+Polanco would do it for me. 2. Trade for Lucroy. If a Tulo deal can't be reached, he's plan B. See if Gibson + Kepler does the trick. 3. Call Mets, Dodgers and Giants. See what the asking price is for Plawecki, both C prospects from Dodgers, and Susac. Offer a trade centered around Plouffe. 4. Call San Diego to ask about fire sale. Perhaps Norris or Shields are available for trade. In any trade negotiation, I would pump up Gibson/Kepler or Polanco, and Plouffe as the 2 packages available.
  8. I wouldn't make it known that Perkins is available.... But he's not on my "untouchable" list in trade negotiations either. If he's needed to obtain an elite C or SS prospect why not? EDIT: Considering that he's on a team friendly deal, there's no rush to make a move like that by July 31. Interesting to think about this offseason though.
  9. It's a great move for the Royals, and it's clear that it's WC or bust for our favorite ball club.... What are the options for the Royals at the end of this season? Offer him a QO and get a draft pick?
  10. I'm not sure it's THAT steep of a price... Disclaimer: I couldn't pick any of those guys out in a police lineup - but from I've read the players they gave up are projected to be #3s at their best, or bullpen guys.
  11. Johnny Cueto to the Royals... rental or are they going to sign him long term? http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/07/26/johnny-cueto-trade-reds-royals/30696051/
  12. Plouffe has done well to continue his progression as a well rounded 3B. I would want him back next season and see who wins the job in ST between him and Sano. Or if he can be a trade chip to shore up either SS or C, even better. When it comes to extending his contract beyond 2016, please don't do it.
  13. I doubt that anyone would be asking about E. Santana in any trade negotiation. He's certainly pitched well so far, but I would file him under "untradeable contracts" Especially when there are others of higher caliber supposedly available for trade.
  14. You could sell me on a Joe Mauer Quickswing being a better option in the bullpen at this point... Put their names in a hat and draw one out to get the call. There's a number of options to DFA and make room for Duffey, Rogers, Berrios or whoever they choose.
  15. Yep, realized I put the wrong year - strike 1We didn't have great trade pieces like Price and Cespedes - strike 2 And we couldn't trade injured players - strike 3 looking Really I was thinking that the Tigers are in a somewhat similar spot. Dominated the division for the last 4 years, probably could squeeze another run out of it and make it to the playoffs... But instead realizing it could be better LT to be sellers now and start fresh in 2016. EDIT: As Ron Gardenhire said more than a couple of times, "All we can do is come back tomorrow." I battled my tail off out there, but there were better posters today.
  16. My bad. 2011 Twins. And that's true they have significant trade chips compared to what we had at the time. Basically my feeling is the Twins won't be worrying about Detroit being playoff contenders
  17. The Tigers are going to do what the 2010 Twins should have done.. Realize it's over, cut bait on the vets and start fresh in 2016.
  18. Well, the bar is set for now for rentals. The next week will be interesting to see what other dominos fall.
  19. The pace that Santana pitches it's going to be a miracle if I get to watch any of this game after work.
  20. TR could still live up to his motto of building pens on the cheap if they would make a call to Rochester or Chattanooga.... not sure who's the one being too loyal with these players (Boyer, Duensing, Fien) but it's getting ridiculous.
  21. Exactly. No need to tell me, I've been pro-Tulo trade this whole thread. I nearly lost my mind reading all of the "declining phase" posts earlier...
  22. I like it. The trade proposal, the reasoning behind the proposal, all of it. It's a gamble but could pay off in huge dividends for our favorite club.
  23. Welcome aboard the Pro-Tulo team Brock! I know you haven't completely written off the deal throughout this whole thread, but up until today you were much more skeptical about it. What's changed?
  24. “He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” - Benjamin Franklin These are poor excuses for explaining the struggles playing against west coast teams. On a typical WC road trip they spend what, about a week at a time out there? Plenty of time to adjust. The "extra responsibility" of getting extra tickets for friends and family? Preposterous. They have Director of Ops guy handle any ticket requests.
  25. I definitely would try them. Any chance they're still around? I missed out on a great decade of living... love the music of that time and tough to beat on movies too.
