  1. For those who like MLB.coms prospect work, Twins are not listed in the top 10 farm systems. https://www.mlb.com/news/top-10-farm-systems-ranking-by-mlb-pipeline/c-267360666
  2. Odorizzi 2017 FIP: 5.43 Which would have been fourth on our 2017 team (unless we include Mejia and Colon's work with us, then Odorizzi would have been 6th). And his BABIP was ridiculously low. Way lower than it's ever been.
  3. If he stays with us, it NEEDS to be as a reliever. He might be able to provided some quality an inning at a time. He's not going to do anything but hurt us if put back into the rotation.
  4. His earlier form being that one outlier of a season he had in 2014?
  5. Yeah, I'm watching Gonsalves now and he's having a hard time hitting his spots. In fact he's all over the place. Doesn't seem to have much get people out stuff.
  6. I guess for me though, the idea that Dozier hits leadoff because he insists on hitting there is faulty. Molitor makes out the lineup. In the end, it's on Molitor if Dozier is hitting leadoff and it's not where he should hit. It's not on Dozier. He shouldn't be blamed for it.
  7. He's really good. And he's the one who created JAWS. JAWS is a sabermetric baseball statistic developed to evaluate the strength of a player's career and merit for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Created by averaging a player's career WAR with their 7-year peak WAR, its "stated goal is to improve the Hall of Fame's standards, or at least to maintain them rather than erode them, by admitting players who are at least as good as the average Hall of Famer at the position, using a means via which longevity isn't the sole determinant of worthiness
  8. TJ: Mauer HOF? Nearly decade as top catcher, MVP but underrated as his top skill is on-base. Another 3 years- 3 WAR players. Gwynn is in and I argue given Mauer time at catcher, obp and defensive skills should be recognized Jay Jaffe: I think Mauer gets in, though a Twins blogger recently joked that it might be the first time a team’s fan base works to thwart such an effort. Wrote about his case here in November https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/11/02/world-series-playoff-hall-fame-proje… Nap: Which of these guys make the HOF: Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Joe Mauer, Dustin Pedroia, Felix Hernandez, David Price Jay Jaffe: I’d say Mauer and Pedroia are the most likely. I think Rollins is a committee type but not a great one. I worry about Utley. Don’t think either Price or Felix is going there unless they start laying down Cy-caliber seasons again. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jay-jaffe-fangraphs-chat-3-1-18/
  9. I am satisfied with the effort the FO made this offseason to bolster this team for now and for next year too. Getting Cobb would be great too, but even without that, it's been a very good offseason for the FO.
  10. Been saying a long time now: Hughes should pitch out of the pen.
  11. Odorizzi is going to be surprisingly good with us. We have bigger worries in our rotation than him.
  12. I have enough suggestions to cover the amount of meals we will be there for. Thanks to all who gave suggestions.
  13. I have heard The Loon Cafe is very good. Additionally, Union (both Rooftop and the B&G) Anyone been to these places and agree they are good?
  14. Hey all, Where are some of the best places to have a good meal near TF? Not looking to break the bank, but also doesn't need to be a Denny's type either. I have eaten at Murray's and Kieran's, so any other recommended places? I thank you in advance
  15. Well if the goal is to how how little we spent per pitcher, I believe the Twins have won that before: 2013. If the goal is whether we made the rotation good enough we can be a true contender...well, that muddies the water a bit (especially, assuming we get another pitcher, it's Lynn instead of Cobb).
  16. when doing the Mauer/Sano career comparisons, you forgot to include that Mauer battled some injuries too...oh, and that he did that offense while playing mostly catcher...oh and that Mauer has between 5 and 6 times as many PAs...oh, and that he plays quality defense. Lets see those comparisons as Sano plays another 12 or so seasons...If his body let's that happen. Next, compare those same stats of Sanos to HOFer Ozzie Smith...
  17. Or even more obvious, home school.
  18. Payroll flexibility so we can underbid for more top FAs and lose out again?
  19. Dan S hit the nail on the head.
  20. At least one writer feels we've had a great offseason. https://www.mlb.com/news/how-5-mlb-teams-can-still-win-the-offseason/c-266702116 Twins Modest proposal: Sign Lynn. Bottom line: The Twins have already had a great offseason with the trade for right-hander Jake Odorizzi to go with the earlier additions of relievers Addison Reed and Fernando Rodney and the signing of right-hander Anibal Sanchez. But with ace Ervin Santana sidelined until May or June because of a finger injury and with their young starters still figuring things out, the Twins could go a long way toward flat-out winning the offseason with one more starting pitcher.
  21. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/former-trump-aide-gates-to-plead-guilty-agrees-to-testify-against-manafort-sources-say/ar-BBJi9bI Oh boy...getting better and better.
  22. ah, but they should ;-)
  23. he is nowhere near a solid #2. Maybe a solid #4 or #5. We didnt give up anyone of consequence for him so good trade.
