  1. they need a DH badly. They could just put him there.
  2. We'd also have nobody catching the pitches. Not sold on Sano at 3B, myself. Escobar is below average. Dzoier has dropped off. I'm fine with Kepler in the OF.
  3. Yeah, I hope he does very well. I like him as a player.
  4. our defense is the 2nd worst in baseball and that's with Arcia barely playing. So again, if we remove everyone who is terrible defensively, we won't come close to fielding a team. TR, and our minor league development team have abandoned defense as a measure for MLB players. And our pitching is constructed the way it's been constructed for 20+ years.
  5. let's see. If we remove everyone from the field who is awful...
  6. I am watching different games than some. Kepler's defense has been fine. Good even. And when compared to the last RF Ryan decided should play regularly there, he's been Heyward by comparison.
  7. TB is one of the teams I thought would be interested. Their DH issue is a problem. Love to see him succeed over there as the primary DH.
  8. If not much farther of a time period. The players Ryan has acquired since he's been back, and the extensions he's given, puts a lot of his decision making in question.
  9. Too bad our IF logjam is so full of underwhelming options.
  10. Well, when the man himself says: A: that bullpen is the #1 offseason priority B: that money is no object. C: he was disappointed in himself for not doing more to improve it. I find it hard to be okay with the lack of addressing the bullpen. Again, it's easy to defend inaction by using money as the reason. It's a great fallback defense that is frankly hard to swallow after they got their ballpark built mostly by taxpayers so they could compete in today's market. And the thing is, he didn't bother to try and improve anywhere else. He actually went out and made the team worse.
  11. Love baseball. Never gets boring. I have no issue with pace of play.
  12. there is always an excuse to not spend.
  13. Yes, I read the whole thing.
  14. It was obvious the bullpen would be a disaster and it is. The fact that there are worse problems (like SP, defense, offense) is irrelevant and doesn't make it any less of a disaster.
  15. I prefer DRS, especially this early (but really always). He has 3 DRS, which if extrapolated would put him top 5 if not higher. The CFs with more have way more innings. He's also made 21 plays Outside of zone in only 293 innings this year which, if extrapolated, would put him top 5. I guess it depends on what you prefer more P.S., his actual UZR is -1.4. That -6.2 UZR quoted earlier is actually his UZR/150. UZR/150 is only good to use at the end of the year when comparing players for mostly full seasons since some players fall a bit shorter on innings played than others. UZR/150 means nothing at this point.
  16. Every player in the history of the game has missed a play they should make, or made a bad decision on a play, including Torii. Lest we forget a certain playoff game.
  17. Not watching the game, haven't seen the lineup card, but Suzuki must not be playing
  18. I didn't even mention trading him. I'm saying, Dozier is performing, at least offensively, about how one would expect him to. Even his best year offensively is pretty close to what he's doing this year, at least his slash numbers. His defense, on the other hand...
  19. Fangraphs has an article up entitled, 'How the Indians Made it into first place' First, for me, I picked them to win the division and have KC get wildcard, so I'm not surprised, but that's not really what I want to share. The first three sentences crack me up (when read as a whole). 'The Indians lead the Royals by two games in the Central. They lead the Tigers by a little more than that, and they lead the White Sox by a little more than that. The Twins are also a baseball team.'
  20. If you haven't seen Clerks II, you should. There's a discussion about Star Wars VS Lord of the Rings trilogies. Based on your post, you'll love it.
  21. Dozier's numbers this year almost mirror his numbers last year and are pretty much in line with his career numbers. His BA and OBP is actually higher this year than last. This is pretty much who Dozier is. Plouffe has taken a step back. Other than that, not sure how many people are really under-performing based on what you'd expect them to do 9as opposed to having career years). This roster just isn't good.
  22. Blasphemy! I can't even look at you right now :-)
  23. Ryan can say he has every intention of the Twins contending in 2017, but often his actions don't align with his words. He said he would do everything possible to greatly improve the rotation and that everything possible turned into: Worley, Correia and Pelfrey. This team doesn't have the talent to contend next year and no way he gets enough in the offseason for it to happen (kind of like this offseason). Some people who think we were true contenders last year and, before this season started, thought we would be this season still defend his inaction this offseason even though that scenario is exactly the time to go for it in the offseason. Can't claim we were true contenders last season and would have been this season too, and not be ticked off royally that our offseason was mostly nothing unless the goal is just to back up Ryan no matter what.
  24. I think a lot of twins fans overstate how good Escobar is or how he's been for us. It's understandable, our expectations are low. For example, in 2010 when Smith went and trade for Hardy and signed Thome and Hudson I was through the roof excited. On many teams, that's a blip.
  25. Cant think of one Twins fan I know who doesn't know Dozier.
