To make the HOF, he needs to be top 5 for players who were primarily catchers? That's what 10 more would put him. I think the voters will also be pretty receptive to 3 batting titles (considering no other AL catcher has one) along with an MVP and leading the league in BA/OBP/SLG%. (along with the AS, SS and GG). tied for 4th in BA, 9th in OPS+. 5th in WAR7. Top 9 are in the HOF except IRod, who will be. 9th in JAWs (right above the AVERAGE for catcher HOF). Everyone above, a HOF.
Right now, there are four players who, if they won AL MVP, would have a great argument to get the award. Trout, Donaldson, ALTUVE, Betts. Might even stretch it to five. Machado. For me, it's the most intriguing AL MVP race in a very long time.
Twins are 29th in defense in regards to defensive runs saved (-51). At least we aren't 30th... If errors and/or fielding % are your defensive stats of choice, also 29th in both.
Is that the Rosario who has a .290 OBP this year and falling (after peaking at a whopping .301)? His .290 OBP is an improvement over his .289 OBP last year. Small steps. :-) And IF he's a big reason why the twins have been playing so well then one must conclude he's also a big reason why we've gone 1-5 in the last 6 games where he's gotten 10Ks, four hits and zero walks. 3 Walks since the beginning of June May. His BABIP, however, has gone through the roof since the beginning of July.
For the Cards, Peralta is at 3B, and Carpenter is at 1st. They moved Peralta to 3B because Diaz was doing so well. Now he's out so Garcia is there. But it's not like Carpenter can't go back to 3B if they want Moss at 1B with Peralta sliding back to shortstop. They have options.
'Vanimal, Vanimal Vanimal, Vanimal Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off of it Ah, you reach down, between my legs Ease the seat back' -Van Halen
thank you. Remember when people were talking about Kiley from Fangraphs being a hack and not knowing what he was talking about? The whole, 'who is he and why should we bother listening to him' schtick (because he didn't see some of our guys as good as we the experts did). All he had done is been in MLB organizations and then later got hired as Assistant Director of Baseball relations. Good times...
'I am very much looking forward to a Twins pitcher hitting triple digits, especially if at least some of them are in the strike.' Tommy Milone, and his twin brother who throws slightly harder than Tommy, throw a combined speed of 101 mph :-)
First time I went to a pub in London I asked for a screwdriver. bartender took my order and jump out from behind the bar and went into an office. Came out a couple minutes later with an actual screwdriver :-)
