  1. huh? I must be on delay, he's still batting. And now sits at 0-2 2Ks.
  2. Escobar should be playing on Sub Sundays (since that seems to be a thing here for as long as I can remember) and some other day games after night games. That's when backups should play.
  3. I also wouldn't assume any money saved on his contract would go towards acquiring a pitcher really worth getting. just like the idea that was constantly being floated around that if we just got rid of Mauer that money could be used for an ace. I think the chances of that happening were zero.
  4. IMO, the assumption Plouffe has no trade value is based on assuming Ryan ever put him on the hypothetical trade block. I doubt Ryan did that. I don't give him the benefit of the doubt that he even considered it, much less did it. He even said he didn't. Anthony hasn't had an opportunity to do so since he just got back. In other words, hard to see a player get traded who was never even being considered to be traded.
  5. Seems like only last year Plouffe was a 2.5 WAR guy after being a 3.6 WAR guy the year before. Now he's a complete garbage player because he's been hurt? Things sure turn quickly.
  6. I'm sorry. We're all big fans of Sano, but Sano wasn't good in the OF because he has no business being in the OF. That's not on him. That's on the people who made the ridiculous decision to play him there. Some believe he can be an acceptable 3B. I have my doubts. Hope I'm wrong. he's an arbitration guy. they can't just throw a salary at Plouffe and make him accept it.
  7. anyway, this is for fun. GO TWINS!
  8. and all because he plays the position Sano plays horribly and might never play even acceptably.

  10. you and quite a few seem convinced. hope you guys are right. there were a ton convinced he was athletic enough to play OF too.
  11. not only that, but chats don't really allow for in depth analysis.
  12. my opinion, rust doesn't account for that bad of defense, it just doesn't. but maybe we'll see.
  13. yeah, you say that as if you know that for sure. My opinion is I really doubt it. Of course IF he greatly improves he'll be average, cause he's that far bad he is now. And, you know, before this year, he played infield his whole professional career (and before). I really doubt one ST and less than 40 MLB games in the OF turned him from okay to horrendous. Hard to believe he got that much rust.
  14. that or it shows that all major leaguers make great plays here and there. He IS great on coming in on soft hit, slow grounders and throwing. There are other times when people have raved about a play that is routine for most 3B Our announcers are good at that.
  15. exactly the same amount of HR. awesome.
  16. and, let's face it, this is hardly the first time it's been brought up. Maybe on this thread, but it's not a new idea :-)
  17. 'Sano in right as a mistake.Schwaber is built along the same lines as Sano. Shorter, but about the same BMI.Can't find where people thought Epstien and Maddon were idiots. The all Star Bryant does not always play 3b, he gets to play OF Jeezo, those Cubs must sure be idiots.' Sano is only 35, 40 pounds heavier than Schwarber (BMI doesn't matter, that's 35-40 more pounds to get moving out there. Has there been a heavier OF given a starting OF job. Pretty sure there hasn't) and Sano, unlike Schwarber, had no time in the minors as an OF. With the exception of those things, their situations are exactly alike.... Tons of fans said the idea of putting Sano out in the OF was ridiculous right from the start, and he ended up being horrible out there. For those people who want to continue to think it was a well conceived idea from the Twins braintrust, that's on them. It's kind of like faith.
  18. If you read my post in regards to the post I was responding to, I wasn't pinpointing Gordon as the one who makes Escobar a non-factor. We were talking about Polanco and whether or not he should be traded. I think Escobar in no way should be a player who blocks Polanco at shortstop and Gordon is too far down the road to even consider at this point. Escobar should be a utility IF. That's it. Still a useful piece, but not someone I, personally, think should be a regular starter. So, basically, I'm saying when it comes to starting jobs, Escobar is a non-factor
  19. Rosario is the perfect #4 outfielder. Can play every spot decently, and isn't a complete black hole at the plate. Isn't really good enough to be a regular, but his overall play isn't embarrassing. And I think plate discipline is tied into taking walks. You can't get a good amount of walks without plate disciple. Knowing the strike zone, being able to identify pitches helps with that.
