  1. The fan base has to be concerned about blowing cash on a pitcher who will be a drag on the payroll in future years We know the Twins have a budget. It’s more than twice the payroll of the Rays. However, if they commit to spending too much on an aging pitcher, that blocks money to be used to make future acquisitions and to retain our own stars. Then the same fans who incorrectly complain about the “Cheap Pohlads”, in future years will complain about the stupid deal that brought the now “former star” pitcher who stinks up Target Field every five days. They’ll also complain about them being cheap for letting our own stars go in future years, because they agreed to a longterm expensive contract in 2019.
  2. Cron is the only one worthy one of that trio. Better yet, about moving Sano to 1B and starting Marwin Gonzalez at 3B (Adrianza as a sub). Injuries and other factors may give an opportunity to a worthy prospect (like Arraez last season).
  3. The Twins sign one more hopefully. At Spring Training Dobnak, Smeltzer, Graterol et.al. compete for the #4 and #5. In Mid-May, when Big Mike returns, the Twins sort out who goes to bullpen, Rochester, the injured list or whatever.
  4. And I understand Pineda has a few games remaining on his suspension.
  5. In an environment where Kyle Gibson gets $30 Million over 3 years, probably this is a year to stay out of the bidding wars on the top and 2nd tier free agents. Re-sign Pineda, and go with Odorizzi and Berríos as the top 3. Then let the rest of the Twins roster fight for the last two spots Graterol, Dobnak, Thorpe, Romero, Smeltzer and others can try to prove themselves. Or the Twins should look to make a trade for x starter. Otherwise, the Twins pay big bucks for Wheeler based on potential more than past performance, or pay big bucks for aging and likely declining pitchers like Ryu and Mad-Bum.
  6. Of course it was a great trade. I'd like to see the Twins trade some of their radio and TV Analysts for AJ. I know he is signed with FOX, but maybe they could loan AJ out to Fox North for a few games.
  7. Sorry for trolling. I couldn’t resist and knew I’d get a few bites. Ultimately, Sano will Work his way to 1B and then DH. So, picking up a better defensive 3B is a good idea. I’d prefer Donaldson.
  8. Home town fans have had a big problem with Moustakas wherever he goes. Even when he hits a homer, the home town fans always boo him. Don’t understand why Mike doesn’t get more love from his own fans. Maybe a red flag?
  9. I think Sam Dyson is still under contract. He should be ready to pitch out of pen next season
  10. Luiz Arraez, The Sprinkler, and apparently Alex Kiriloff are solutions to the shift. Learn to hit to all fields. Left-handed hitters should bunt to third base.
  11. Who knows if other teams would give much for Rosario? Twins should look at which outfielder gets the most return in trade for a top of rotation Pitcher. I mean, they should consider offers for Kepler too They’ll probably need to add a less than top prospect to add to a trade for either Eddie or Max. IBuxton’s value has deteriorated due to his injury issues.
  12. Dyson, despite fan grumbling, will return and feel he has something to prove. I think the Twins could add s lefty. Maybe re-sign Martin Perez to use inthe pen and as a spot starter.
  13. With only three outfielders, Adrianza makes more sense than Tortuga, Ehire along with Gonzalez and Arraez add versatility to tht roster more than the third catcher. Yankees hit lefties well, so Perez could be on roster in later rounds of playoffs (he3re's hoping), against teams which struggle against lefties.
  14. Leave Gibby on the roster but limit his innings. He should be good in an opener role
  15. When Nishi was signed I bought 5 t-shirts for me and family members. If the Twins are playing horribly, I will don the shirt when I attend a game, to punish the team for its poor playing. Haven';t worn the Nishi shirt once during this season.
  16. New nickname. Make Me Bigger Mike.
  17. I’d like to see another effective lefty out there in the pen. Hoping Thorpe or Smeltzer can do it. In the playoffs, Martin Perez could spot start against teams who are lousy against LHPs, and perform some sort of LOOGY role otherwise.
  18. Again. The name Rocket B. Squirrel from Bomba Bay, Mn. Long lost cousin to Rocket J. Squirrel of Frostbie Falls, Mn, of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame. Anyone have a better name??
  19. The squirrel has a name. Rocket B. Squirrel from Bomba Bay, Mn
  20. Crazy to bring up Graterol in a year where the Twins are in the second tier behind the Dodgers and Astros. He just spent time injured. Moreover, his stats would have to be near perfect to justify bringing him up as a 20 year old and immediately putting him in pennant race snd playoff meat grinder. I don’t think this year is a one-off and the Twins should try to handle their roster and prospects to build an even better team to consistently win in future years too This year doesn’t have to be the peak.
  21. SOLID might not be the right word. The ultimate result of Odo’s pitching was nice. But the reason he had to pitch out of jams is mostly that he walked too many. Another day, a team is going to greater advantage of those walks. Odo needs to be more consistent.
  22. Four man rotation: Berrios Pineda Odo Gibby - Just hope the Good Gibby shows up. However, there may be teams that fare poorly against lefties, so keep Smeltzer and Perez as options to spot start in those situations.
  23. When was the last walk-off homer against the Braves? Oh I remember - "And we'll see you tomorrow night!!!!!!!!". I'm there tonight - hoping Berrios pitches a 10 inning shutout. WOW Gotta love this season!
