  1. Have we forgotten that Josh Donaldson is a member of the Minnesota Twins???
  2. 5. 2006 4. 1969 3. 1967 2. 2019 1. 1965 The Twins won the pennant in 1965, and took the National League's best team to a seventh games in the series. This was in an era when the National League was clearly the superior league. Watch the 1965 All-Star Game and compare those line-ups. Hard keeping 1970, 2010 and 2009 off the board
  3. The starting staff is deep. Rich Hill starts at beginning of season. If there is an injury or a starter is ineffective, Pineda is waiting to take over before the September run for the pennant
  4. The most important part in the boxes posted above is the part referring to the Twins which says: Team is seeking: NONE. That 's right. I like what we have too. Present and future are both good.
  5. The Twins, and other MLB teams need to get all of their left handed batters to learn my favorite play in current baseball: the bunt past the pitcher to third base. Bottom of the ninth down by a run, two outs and the big lefty slugger comes up to bat with a runner on second. If there’s a shift, I still want to see a bunt to third base. I hate the over shifting more than I want my team to win. That is his bad it has become. The sooner teams can learn to beat all of this over-shifting, the sooner we get back to watching real baseball rather than musical chairs on a diamond.

  7. Back in the day, at the Metrohole, the best player to razz was Jose Canseco. We would shout “Steroids, Steroids ...” at him in the on-deck circle. He had denied using them at the time but it was obvious to us that he was a user. Jose would react by scowling and scanning the stands with his eyes looking for us, like he was going to come up and fight us. Of course, we’d immediately shut up and look innocent. Then, when he looked down to continue his warm up, we’d resume our chant and he the would again scan the stands angrily. His complete lack of awareness that he was fueling the chants makes Jose the greatest “love to hate” player of all time.
  8. I would replace Reardon (too few innings pitched) with Perkins 5. Guardado 4. Worthington 3. Perkins (dominant years and hey he’s a local boy). 2. Aggie 1. Nathan

  10. Six words make the answer easy: “And we’ll see you tomorrow night.” Game 6 1991
  11. Those are my top five. Jim Mudcat Grant and Jim Perry are two to consider
  12. A more optimistic but realistic view would have the virus becoming seasonal and under control by May, and then the season starting sometime around Memorial Day. I would suggest starting the season with the All-Star Game on Memorial Day. Add a memorial for health care workers who died fighting this pandemic. During the usual All-Star Break, add some regular season games to balance schedules (priority to evening out home and away games). Otherwise, play put the season as scheduled. Some teams will have easier schedules, by that happens in Big Ten Footbsll every year.
  13. Maybe Marwin González has some ideas from his Astro days. Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

  15. Return to the 154 game schedule. Start April 1 or later. Then expand the eligible teams for the playoffs, ending before October 31. More playoffs and less regular season. No March or November games ever.
  16. Sorry, but I think later charitable efforts should be mostly “unnoticed” when deciding on who does and does not enter a Hall of Fame. It should be about how one played, managed or broadcast the game. I would vote for Tovar too
  17. At this point, it’s hoped it is the best team since 2019. If Father Time doesn’t catch up to Cruz, Donaldson, Maeda and Hill, and Buxton stays healthy, it is arguably the best team on paper since 1991
  18. There will be a continuous competition this season for spots in the starting rotation. The Twins have a bevy of starters. If any get injured or don’t produce, then another eager starter from the pen or at Rochester gets a chance. Later in the season, the Twins reload with Big Mike and then Rich Hill. As I said, there will be a season long competition to be part of the Twins starting rotation.
  19. So it looks like we are presuming the Kenta Maeda era is over.
  20. And let’s just hope the company that counted the votes in the 2020 Iowa caucus is not involved in the counting of HOF ballots.

  22. I look at other possible HOFers and think both Nathan and Wagner are marginal for deserving induction. This year, Jeter makes it on the first ballot and Curt Schilling should finally bring votes in (if the writers can put politics aside as they should - evaluate baseball). Larry Walker is another marginal guy. Whenever Clemons and Bonds get to their final year; that’s when you vote them in (just think of controversy in 15-20 years when cheating Astros are to be considered!). So, I won’t be upset either way if Wagner and/or Joe get a yes or no ultimately.
  23. At least one of the next four seasons will be mostly lost to injury or injuries. That’s part of signing a long term contract with an older player who missed much of a recent season.
