  1. Took 2 guy off the market that likely weren't Twins targets, but also set the price for pitching if we are going to go the trade route. Still some quality arms on the trade market and via free agency. we know the market now so go out and get the guy you feel fits. My choice is sign Paxton and work out a deal for Castillo and Castellanos.
  2. I think Polanco as a utiliy guy would be best for him and the team. 2019 offensive surge wasn't real for many players like Polanco because the ball was juiced. Saying that I don't think he is as bad as he played in 2020. I think a move to utility and bringing in a SS would be perfect. Polanco doesn't need to play much if any OF if you don't bring back Cruz and or you bring up Kirloff to begin the season allow Rooker to take the OF at bats.
  3. I think Hand should be a priority, allows both Duffey and Rogers to be used in matchup situations, which both succeed at and also keeps them from pilling up saves which gets relievers paid in arbitration. I know we weren't interested at him for 1 yr and 9 mil but maybe a 2 yr for 14? or the same deal Rogers got 1 for 6 with a mutual option for a second year at loser to the 9 he miss out on. Be a steady closer, wants to come here and is one of us!
  4. if you could pull a Castellanos and Castillo trade built around a Larnach. Get a good power Rh bat who can play a little outfield but likely settle in as primary DH and a potential ace with team control
  5. No one has signed this off-season, no top team has jumped on guys unless you had a multi billionaire buy the team in the last months. The few signing that have happened have been with players who might miss the boat and later in offseason might have had to take a minor league deal. I think there is zero $ floating around this year with the unknown of spring training, a full season and fabless stadium and good players are worried about going jobless in 2021. I think this trend of very few signing continues until clarity of how the 2021 season plays out. Possibly by mid February we see a run on solid mlb players taking 1 year deals
  6. I’m more of a Didi or Simmons. Maybe you use Arraez as the super utility.
  7. We lose Donaldson for any significant amount of time we might be in trouble. I like Blankenhorn as a utility guy but that bat has to continue to develop and he swings it from the left side, not sure he is an everyday 3B. This maybe where Royce Lewis ends up. Im hoping for a healthy big bounce back year from Donaldson!
  8. I think there must be a media portion offered to the Saint that peaked there interest. Weather it is radio broadcasts (Polads own some radio stations in town) or possibly a FSnorth partnership.
  9. The only throwing slider gimmick must have run its course. Maybe they road that wagon and the wheels were falling off. Better to jump off now! Or maybe he had some kind injury that him and team doctors didn’t see eye to eye on.
  10. Putting salary aside I believe you would get more production out of Kirilloff then Rosario. Rosario's defense has gotten pretty terrible other then having a big arm. He runs the bases poorly and his overall speed has fallen off a cliff. The guy hits some big homeruns and provides so nice energy but its time to move on to a guy who players solid defense, works counts, has great on base skill, has gap power to all fields.
  11. I’m not a big fan of Rosario, he has a lot of talent but not sure he would be a very good utility player not getting everyday at bats. I would like to pick up a guy like David Peterson if he is identified as a guy Wes Johnson can tweak and get results. A catcher who hit 30 hrs in the last full season who is in his first yr of arbitration is only worth a 5th starter and a failed SS who’s likely now just a utility guy? I’m not that interested in selling that low in Garver I guess
  12. I don't think the payroll will be anywhere near 125 million. I think they bring back Cruz and Adrienza and find a starter late when spring training starts. I hope they go out and sign Brad Hand, and move Rogers back to the Set up role where he can match up with guys. I think people keep throwing out these numbers of guys signing for 10+ million, I don't think it happens! I think you take what guys would normally get and cut it in 1/2. teams aren't going to spend $ and there is going to be a lot of quality players on the market.
  13. I have a feeling there are going to be many solid players who get non tendered this year and many solid players who have to settle for minor league deals as spring training 2021 starts. The financial uncertainty for baseball is going to be felt this winter and it usually effects the middle of the road players the most. No minor league baseball this year will hurt development as well for may young players who may be relied upon in 2021. There is still much minor league baseball uncertainty going forward. It will be a interesting off season for baseball, I don't think much of any $ will be flying around without knowing fans will be in the stands in 2021. With all that in mind I think one utility spot should got to Gordon or Blankenhorn and 1 spot should be from outside the organization. DO not make Lewis a utility play in 2021! He needs to stick at SS as long as possible.
  14. What do you do with Astudilo as well? He had a few good months 2 years ago but since then hasn't hit. His defense behind the plate isn't very good, he doesn't walk and he doesn't have a lot of power. The position flexibility is nice but I believe he is out of options in 2021. Is it a for gone conclusion that we are moving on from him in 2021. I always thought he was a neat 3rd catcher with the ability to put the ball in play consistently and play multiple positions.
  15. It would be nice to have 2 solid catchers to split time next year. Garver isn’t as bad as he has been this year and isn’t as good especially in the power department as we saw last season. I think Avila and la tortuga will be gone this offseason.
  16. I am just amazed at how far his defensive range has fallen! He continues to make bone headed plays. He has a big arm but makes the wrong throw as many times as he makes a outfield assist. I believe this offseason when they spoke of an ankle injury that robbed his range but clearly that wasn't the case with his play this year. This year he is trying to be more patient but all it has done is taken away the swing aggression. Which appears to must make him unsure and role over balls to the right side. Im ok with Platooning Rooker Wade and Rosario for the rest of the year. At seasons end you just wave him and run with one of the many outfield options in 2021.
  17. What do you think the chances all 4 of them don’t sign? Or that all 4 do sign? Not a lot Of $ to move and shake with a lot of minor league uncertainty. I kind of have a feeling a lot of guys are going to opt to go to or go back to school this year.
  18. I actually love it. Get baseball going have something a little different to shake things up. The division would be tough and I ready don’t think we would win it but baseball back is important
  19. Was nice to see the top 3 get a good number of at bats this spring. I like seeing Celestino get some inning. He will make it to the majors on his defense alone, but I think that bat will develop, swing passes the eye test. Young pitchers are difficult to evaluate in games during spring training, but we have some live arms.
  20. I believe Buxton is a big part of the season. I don’t believe the ball will be flying out of the park like last year so getting on base and manufacturing runs is going to be needed. If Buxton can hit like last year, get on base and play good defense makes this team much better and deeper and I believe is the needed piece for the season. I liked the way Celestino looked this spring. Won’t be ready to start the season but if he can show it at AA he would be an option later in summer. as far as Lewis goes he looked good enough at SS and want to keep him there as long as possible. Good SS don’t come along
  21. This is the last season of Rosario, if he has a big year I think he is traded if he struggles and the second half Rosario reappears I think he is none tendered. You have lot of other options which arm much cheaper who can replace for penny’s on the dollar. Hoping Rosie has a big year!
  22. I think there is a possibility its a fair comparison light hitting and numbers through the minors and early majors are very similar. I think Arraez appears to have more staying power in the discipline and eye at the plate. He doesn't just swing and put the ball in play he knows the strike zone and appears very comfortable even behind in the count (Mauer like). Its all about continuing to get good pitches to hit and forcing the pitching to throw you those good pitches. 2020 is a big year.
  23. If you loss Arraez for any amount of time you have good depth and prospects like Gordon and Blankenhorn close.
  24. I thought it was a great signing and even after last years down performance he still was worth the $. Big value in a guy who can fill in at multiple positions, play them well and add something with the bat. Not to mention he is ok play 4 or 5 days a week spelling guys at different positions along the way.
  25. I think Celestino is an option this year. Like others said he is already on the 40 man. Keeping Kepler in RF is best for Kepler. i really don’t want Lewis in CF unless SS has to be Totally abandon. outfield defense is very important over the long hall and defense in general for the sucess of the Twins,
