  1. similar career path. hope this one works out better
  2. When Ryan went down last year, the Twins had three of the top 12 starters in the AL.
  3. Maybe Berrios wanted to test the waters because we hadn't yet offered the deal the Toronto ultimately did. I can find a whole bunch of MAGAts who will tell you the the Twin Cities are VERY diverse.
  4. Always amazed that every Twins fan "assumes" we wouldn't have signed Berrios. Could easily have afforded the deal he signed in Toronto. But, sure, we're four years out and the return is still toiling away in AAA, but, yeah, there gonna hit. Absolutely. or not
  5. Feels like we're back to not much return for the best starting pitcher we had developed in a generation.
  6. Fortunately, 45 games does not a season make. I'm pretty sure I could afford a nice steak at Manny's if I had a nickel for every guy who has ever "turned on the jets" from this point in the season on. Some of them even Twins in recent seasons. Donovan Solano had FIVE RBI at this point in the season in 2023. We don't sniff the playoffs without what he did from this point forward that year.
  7. Lee has improved from last year and may well continue to do so. To be honest their last 200 plate appearances (actually ANY player's last 200 plate appearances) don't mean jack. I'm far more tuned in everybody's NEXT 300 plate appearances.
  8. Teams that have memorable seasons don't do so with the likes of Correa, Lee & Lewis having non memorable seasons. Two of the three need to come thru. Even if only because of the likelihood of at least one of Buxton, Bader, Larnach & Jeffers NOT doing so. Not sure why we should feel compelled to downgrade Lee because his numbers this year are better than his career numbers and do the same to Lewis because his career numbers are better than his numbers this year, but OK.
  9. Do you REALLY believe that if Rocco filled out the lineup card and had a 3 by Lewis' name instead of a 5 he'd REFUSE to play 1B?
  10. Not much in the way of either hitting the big leagues soon except inexperience. And, hopefully, Emmanuel Rodriguez.
  11. I have Twins.tv on my cable system. Works just fine.
  12. Too many guys with too much more upside or potential for these guys to pass. And guys like Clemens & Bride (and Gasper?) along for short term rides that might make it easier to eventually clear the way for other youngsters. (Rodriguez, McCusker, Keaschall (and maybe Payton Eeles)when healthy)
  13. No, YOU brought 4th and 5th and 6th and 7th innings into play. And, no, you have not given me 5 and 6 years of data bout those innings. I can only assume because doing so in no way helps your narrative. And, I never said Larussa would NEVER use other guys to close games. In fact I've even explained why he sometimes had to. Still waiting for the data that doesn't support your conclusions.
  14. Most "professionals" covering the team are just rubes who got someone to pay them for being such. The Padres had so much "interest" that they didn't make the move. Lots of teams have lots of interest in lots of guys. You can't make soup out of interest.
  15. Bingo. The biggest issue with their offense is that guys just haven't hit like they might well do by the end of the season. There WERE some calling for us to take a shot at Vlady Jr. That was NEVER going to happen
  16. And most of those times he pitched in the 8th he also pitched in the 9th. Thus he was AVAILABLE in those 9th innings. AND like I said you quoted me gospel verses of EVERY inning he pitched in in 1987, his first year converting from starter to reliever. Again, How many 4th innings did he pitch in after 1987? Still waiting. And as far as him pitching more than one inning, it wasn't THAT uncommon back then, especially for a guy with 350 starts under his belt.
  17. If there is on guy in this entire organization should should be told "you are now only a DH. Pick up a bat and do nothing else," this is the guy. The hit tools are there. Somewhere. Will he ever be Nelson Cruz or Edgar Martinez? No. But can he become a 400-500 PA a year hitter if freed from the shackles of trying to figure out whether he's going to spend his career making throws from second base or catching throws from second base? Maybe. But the way I see it, that's his only shot. And it's not like we've got a Nelson Cruz or Edgar Martinez standing in his way. Give it a shot.
  18. OK. So you have established that we should have done something. Outside of spending money like drunken sailors, WHAT? I'll wait.
  19. Who told us that Vazquez & Paddack had value? The team? Or rubes on this site? Just because some folks believe something to be true does not make it so.
  20. Truth be told, it's not really mid year for Royce. It's more like mid March for him. Camp's almost over. Hope he goes north with the big league squad.
