There are only two ways DeGrom goes ahead of Ryan: 1, he dominates June and or Ryan tanks. Possible? Sure. Likely? Not so much. 2: He gets it as a lifetime achievement award. Doesn't really happen so much in baseball at least among pitchers where there is no fan vote. DeGrom ahead of Pablo & Ober? Sure. But not Ryan. Accept it folks, Ryan has become an elite level starting pitcher. Top 7 in the AL. It's ok. This is NOT against the rules. Enjoy it.

Should Fans have excitement for Aaron Sabato?
dxpavelka replied to Trov's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Yes, I understand that. But, by the same token, there are seven guys hitting .300 in AA and the highest average in AA was .331. So by your logic, in a few years, the highest average in the majors will be .231. I'm not buying it. -

So you're telling me that to expect a guy to hit .300 in the big leagues he's gotta hit .400 in AA? -
Nice to have three of the top 20 (15?) starting pitchers in the league and at least two potential Cy Young candidates.

"By moving the best hitter to the second position, teams guarantee they hit in the first inning," I am by no means an expert but I tend to think that the guy in the third position will get a LOT of 1st inning at bats as well. Am I missing something?

Really? You write a whole article about Rick Dempsey & nary a mention of his rain delay antics?

So the return for "the biggest success story on this list", four years after trading him is two guys who remain parked on the wrong side of the river. Got it.

"Here are the team’s best pitching prospects of the 2000s." ~~Radke was a rookie in 1995.

Not to mention, has there been a Twin, other than Sano since Kirby retired, that made you stop whatever else you might have been doing when he came to the plate, turn off the lawn mower, stop doing the dishes, the laundry can wait, put the broom down, turn off the power saw, stop working on the car, let the kid cry, the guy might strike out but he also might hit it 498 feet and ya gotta see that.

I'm appalled. That you can write an entire article about Kodys with a K playing for the Twins and nary a mention of the word Funderburk. Classless and irresponsible journalism. Could have even thrown in a paragraph about the original Funder for the Twins, Mark Funderburk, the first player ever to hit two home runs in the same inning in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

who said anything about HOPING a Twins player gets injured. My point was / is that if you continue to coddle them they will end up being Matt Canterino

There hasn't been a pitcher throw a hundred and half pitches at any level of baseball since your grandmother was in the big leagues.

You're probably right. It's not like his resume or career body of work is screaming can't miss. But he MIGHT be a fun story for a bit.

Feels like every pitcher in the minors has had multiple serious arm injuries. Might be from being coddled. If they don't want to throw the damn ball pick up a first baseman's mitt.

If McKusker is something more than a AAAA guy he'll get enough opportunity to show it. But, yes, he'll have to take advantage of that opportunity. This is a team that gave Dobnak, a fellow undrafted college graduate lots of leash so I'm sure they'll do the same with a guy with a good power tool. But 27 year old rookies have to shine early. That's just the nature of the game.
