  1. But his power display could easily be a mirage.
  2. Buxton is STILL a kid with fewer than 850 plate appearances above the A ball level. Also sure hope that fact that Kepler's home runs are more than his last 2 minor league seasons combined is not a pre-cursor to him following up his rookie season surprise in Danny Santana fashion. Just sayin
  3. There has never been a Hall of Fame player who has then won a World Series as a manager. I've yet to be convinced that Molitor will be the first.
  4. And the organization STILL hasn't gotten it right.
  5. Exactly the type of thinking that has led us to the present precipice. A mid September hiring would mean a 2 month search. Plenty of time to find the right guy.
  6. Polanco's been ready for a year. Dozier spent 4 of the 6 months of that year hitting below .216.........
  7. When Ryan was canned the explanation should have been twofold. Sano to RF & May to the pen. If Molitor was complicit and not just following orders (Sano leaving RF around the same time Ryan gets fired causes doubt but May remaining in the pen lessens the doubt) he should be next to go.
  8. It this Twins hot take or the fans hot take?
  9. Try to remember that we're talking about a guy with 815 career plate appearances above the A ball level. Things change fast. Four days ago we were debating the merits of Sano being the guy getting shipped out.
  10. Sending Sano down sends one message LOUD & CLEAR: The firings on July 25 did not cut deep enough. Has anyone considered that the reason nobody's lighting a fire under any of these guys asses like TK & Gardy used to do is because neither of them is sitting in that chair anymore?
  11. Perfectly fine with going into next year with Centeno/Murph. But would need to sign at least one guy in the Hicks / Centeno mode like this year for AAA depth. Murph should be up and playing extensively the last 7-8 weeks so we have a better sense what he might become too.
  12. No. And I will agree with the comments above regarding Molitor. In fact I'll take them a step further and say that if Molitor was complicit in the move to RF he should be fired right along with Ryan. I said all winter that the move from a position he was somewhat comfortable at to a place he had no business being could affect his hitting. I was pretty much laughed at on this very page. NOW we want to say that might be the case? Put him at 3B every day from now until at least the end of 2017. MIGHT hurt you a bit with the glove. Will most likely reward you with the bat.
  13. If the four pitchers acquired are solid contributors making up 30% of the staff 2-3 years from now he won all three trades. Foolhardy to make such a proclamation at this point.
  14. Unless nobody makes an offer worth taking for the first 3 guys. You never know how that stuff goes. A whole lot of fans spent the offseason whining about Ryan not trading for Lucroy, but guess what, he had us on his no trade list.
  15. Dozier has had one month in the last seven with an average north of .216. If anyone in this organization had any balls, he and Nunez would be helping each other pack their bags. Since that is not the case Polanco probably becomes the latest guy to attempt to become the answer at shortstop. Hopefully he gets a slightly longer audition at that spot than Santana did and takes advantage of it. Ideally he can hold the spot for a couple of years until Nick Gordon (or Vielma) is ready to be the SS and somebody finally pulls their heads out of their a*$#@ and makes a move to clear 2B for him long term.
  16. I'll give you that Radke was a better pitcher than Blackburn. But given that, where does Duffey line up in comparison to the two of them?

  19. Counting his .195 mark this month, June was the only month in the last seven that Dozier has hit higher than .216. I don't understand the rush to keep him.
  20. He'll go the way guys lacking elite power arms generally go. Most likely, at best, he's Radke, Baker, Slowey, Blackburn--Pick one. At best, he's a back of the rotation guy who might be able to help you get within a sniff of the playoffs but will never help you seriously contend for a title.
  21. He's played fewer games at the 3B at the big league level than he has in the OF. His short term future is at 3B. Put him out there and let him get comfortable. Take his lumps as needed. Fairly evident that, although I'll be told there is no empirical evidence to back this up, he enjoys playing 3B and that will most likely help him at the plate. Put him out there and let him play. Neither he, nor the manager, needs to concern himself with what the fans are saying. If we haven't seen improvement by a couple months into next year re-evaluate.
  22. And yet we hover on the brink of being only 19 games out of first place.
  23. Looks like we're already a 3-4 weeks late on that.
  24. Get back to me in 3-5 years.
  25. In part because for some unknown reason hitting seems to be a factor in winning Gold Gloves.
