  1. All I'm gonna say is that it'll be a fun year being a Chatty fan.
  2. I think this is one of those articles where higher level analysis is irrelevant to the main thrust of the article. The point is, the Twins have been bad for four straight years, and whiffing on high level draft picks for 6 straight years, thus depriving the team of fresh talent or attractive trade chips, is a big reason why. It's not necessary to run a statistical regression to determine the impact compared to other teams. Good article Parker.
  3. I have to think that, adjusted for league average, chatty is going to feature the best lineup in baseball, if not the best overall roster. How many other teams in the minors have legitimate big league prospects at every position?
  4. The ideal scenario for the Twins is that Sano kills it in Chatty, while Plouffe looks good enough to fetch a handsome return at the deadline, allowing the farm system to continue to be stocked, but also letting Bocaton get his feet wet.
  5. Because the hitter can do a good job of taking pitches that will be balls, and fouling off pitches that he can't square up, rather than putting them into play. To suggest that all walks are completely the result of pitching is utter nonsense.
  6. the problem with Pujols is that he's been declining for 2-3 years already. The Angels are going to be stuck with an absolute albatross of a contract for multiple years. The only question for me is; how many years do the Angels pay Pujols NOT to play for them?
  7. It just happens to take two pitchers to make that one Ace. Between Carl Pavano's mindset, and Francisco Liriano's stuff, we actually do have that one Ace. Pavano demonstrated on Monday that he has that bulldog mentality that an ace needs, to decide that he is going to go out, compete, and get some outs for his team. Liriano demonstrated on Tuesday that he is one of the most mentally fragile picthers in the league, that is yet to learn how to handle adversity. If we could somehow combine them into Carcisco Paviano, we might really have something. In other thoughts, since I didn't get to see or listen to the game much, how did the Clete Thomas, Center Fielder thing work out? When I was listening, and heard Denard get ejected, my immediate thought was that a Willingham-Thomas-Plouffe outfield might just be the worst defensive outfield in the league. If that suspicion is correct, I woudl think it becomes imperative that Denard not jaw about balls and strikes, as he would ostensibly be our only outfielder who's even acceptable in CF, what with Revere running in Rochester.
