  1. The job of a pitcher is to not let runs score. Sure, errors aren't his fault (unless it's his error), but with Colome on the mound, opposing teams have now scored 11 runs in 8 innings. That's...not great from the guy Rocco insists on treating like a traditional closer. I do give Colome a pass to a degree on the 10th today. There was nothing he did in the 9th today that would make any rational manager think he should be out there for the 10th.
  2. I just...I have nothing. How can one team just consistently fall flat on it's face over and over again?
  3. Umm, Baddoo walks 2.5% of the time, strikes out 40% of the time, has a 20.1% swinging strike percentage, and 17.3% called strike percentage. For the league so far this year, those metrics are at 9.1%, 24.6%, 11.6%, and 16.9%. Baddoo does not have decent plate discipline, he has 4 homers in 40 PA's, which is dramatically skewing his results. In 4 weeks, Baddoo will be exposed for what he is, which is somewhere between a AA and AAAA player (which is not to say he can't improve, just he's not going to be a valuable piece in 2021).
  4. I mean, to be fair, who should we use?
  5. I'd pay good money to watch Cruz hit, and then jump on that hog to high tail it down the line.
  6. Now for some positivity--Buxton has put up as much WAR this year as Mike Trout, despite having only 2/3 of the PA's. He's better on the bases, on defense, and on offense (by wRC+). He is striking out less than Trout, and actually has a significantly lower BABIP as well!
  7. I propose that we give Cruz one of those little one leg scooters to take around the bases when he hits homers, and in return, we declare him automatically out on every ball that doesn't leave the infield.
  8. Huge ups to Nellie for clearly battling through injury. Absolutely love that.
  9. Oh, I'm sure someone will want him, I just don't think you'll get a guy with 3 years of control left after this year who is also at 3.9 WAR/150 games since moving to NY, let alone multiple pitching prospects to boot. Look at what the Indians had to settle for in return for Lindor, and bear in mind that Lindor is far more valuable than Donaldson.
  10. A 35 year old still owed $50M after this year with a long history of leg problems that can strike at any time will not fetch much of anything at the deadline.
  11. The Twins have one win since April 8. They are 1-8 since then, and have been outscored 47-21 in those 9 games; average score? 5.2 to 2.3. This is not a team just falling short here and there. They are getting worked.
  12. Dude, it's a game thread. This isn't your first time here. You know people get hyperbolic. The point I was making is that there a fair number of Twins players who look like they're completely going through the motions. Has anyone slammed a bat or helmet? Destroyed something in the dugout? Anything that indicates they're sick and tired of not just losing, but losing in completely ineffectual and embarrassing fashion?
  13. I mean, to be fair, you don't know if that's true any more than I do.
  14. I'd say sure, except for the poor plate appearances and shoddy fielding. We don't have a bunch of guys taking good at bats, but just not able to drive the ball. A huge issue with this team right now is just sloppy play, not executing on things you learn in little league. That's not a talent thing, that's an effort thing.
  15. See everyone? I just needed to be relentlessly negative to motivate this team!
  16. I take it back--the 4 guys at the top of the lineup care. Everyone else is going through the motions.
  17. Oh for sure. This team is just pure emotion. If anything they need to take it down a notch.
  18. Watch this team just knuckle under, and do nothing on offense the rest of the game. There is no heart, no fight, no fire whatsoever. Just a bunch of schmucks collecting paychecks.
  19. If one warning point is good, 2 must be better.
  20. Why was Oakland playing "Like a Virgin" just now?
  21. Just super spotty command from Maeda right now.
  22. He's running fine, it's slamming on the brakes that he's not capable of yet. Knowing this, Buxton should not be thinking triple, as it looked like he was.
