  1. As far as I know, Ozzie has not been banned from Target Field, so worst case scenario, he can always buy a ticket.
  2. Sounds promising for burgeoning pull power hitter J.P. Mauer.
  3. That is eminently logical, thank you sir. That being said, under that definition, a sacrifice fly would be a sacrifice hit; Are we really saying Frank Thomas had 10,000+ AB's, and never hit a deep fly ball out with a runner on third and less than 2 outs?
  4. Isn't a sacrifice hit an oxymoron? I mean, in baseball terminology, a sacrifice implies you are out, but you advance/score a teammate. A hit implies you safely reach at least first base. So would a sacrifice hit be you get a single, and purposely try to advance to second, drawing a throw that you know will get you out, but also draws attention away from the runner rounding third and heading home?
  5. I'm gonna guess the Brewers wish a lot of things, primarily that they didn't have to be located in the state of Wisconsin. I know I would.
  6. I'm glad to see Slegers having success, but can we pump the brakes on the superlatives a little bit? Seven hits and two runs in seven innings is not phenomenal unless it's accompanied by double digit strikeouts. It's very good, no doubt, and I'll take it every day, but phenomenal is more like 3 hits or less, 1 run or less.
  7. Shouldn't that be less than no joy in Mudville? More than no joy implies there is some joy, however small.
  8. I like Meyer AND Achter as a call up better than just Achter.
  9. What's up with JO? His past few starts (iirc) have not been up to his established standard. I hope he's not battling an injury.
  10. How can there be a 3 strikeout differential between two accounts of the same game? Someone's got some 'splainin' to do...
  11. Escobar deserves more of a shot than he is getting. He hasn't been getting consistent playing time, and when he does, he's being bounced all across the diamond. I'd like to see what he could do if he got to play shortstop every day for 4 weeks, since he's way better than Santana on both sides of the ball right now. That would give the Twins their best defesnive alignment with Rosario, Hicks, and Hunter in the outfield. You can then go with the below line-up, which would be pretty solid. 1. Dozier 2. Mauer 3. Hunter 4. Plouffe 5. Rosario 6. Random DH guy pending Vargas' call-up 7. Suzuki 8. Escobar 9. Hicks
  12. Not happy at all with what's happening with Kohl Stewart. He's obviously young, and deserves more time to get things straight, but he is going in the wrong direction, which is alarming for an alleged top prospect pitching in a pitcher's park.
  13. We can quibble all day about whether it's likely to last, but if a 2.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 1.73 GO/AO isn't performing to you, I think you may need to recalibrate your expectations.
  14. Niko was a busy guy yesterday apparently, making appearances for the Miracle and the Kernels.
  15. On last weeks Gleeman and the Geek, Gleeman noted that no other affiliated player has more than 7 triples, making Buxton's 11 that much more ridiculous. I don't think it's going to happen, but I certainly think it's possible that Buck could get 30 in a season.
  16. I think it's pretty clear that Hildenberger should be on the move, as his numbers aren't even video game numbers, they're too good for that. I love seeing Zack Jones killing it too. The Twins bullpen might be...uneven shall we say, right now, but it looks like that could change in a hurry.
  17. And of course, a 9 to 3 ratio can be reduced to a 3 to 1 ratio, or the actual number of strikeouts and walks he had.
  18. Glen Perkins with a bullet. Dozier and MAYBE Plouffe if there's an injury at their position, or they really get hot over the next month.
  19. I hate the idea of moving people up based on how old they are, and not how they're producing. If anything, the results gap between Gonsalves and Batts is even larger, given that Gonsalves is that much younger. Additionally, aggressively promoting kids who sign right out of high school (who have earned it) can send a message to other kids like Gonsalves, and get them to sign after being picked in the third or fourth round, instead of going to school for three years. I'm not saying that should be the determining factor, just that it should be taken into account.
  20. I'm not thrilled that we have 3+ more years of decline Mauer ahead of us, when the best thing that could happen to this team positionally is to have Vargas at first and Arcia at DH.
  21. Why is Batts being promoted over Gonsalves? What more does he have to do to move up?
  22. I'm so tired of the cliche "player x doesn't hit enough for y position". When it comes to defensive positions, as long as a guy can field it, and not be an offensive black hole, I'm fine with it. After all, if offensive production is what matters for defensive production, we can greenlight Vargas for right field.
  23. If Rosario is playing, one out of Hunter, Vargas, Escobar, Hicks, Plouffe, Mauer, or Santana needs to sit, all of whom have very legitimate reasons for playing every day too.
  24. Everyone needs to relax on Bocaton. We're still only a month into the season, a season coming after he missed an entire year. There's going to be a hefty amount of rust, not just physically, but psychologically too. Given that he has an OBP over .300 despite a BA under .200, I'd say he has an approach and it's working. Now the hits just need to start falling.
