  1. Nothing under an A prospect, and even then, the Pohlad's will take a big public relations hit. There are a couple of B prospects playing at Midway Stadium, and they can be had for free.
  2. The public will be very upset if a healthy Morneau is traded. Everyone has waited a long time to see the M&M boys healthy and productive. What are you going to sell to the public next year?
  3. Good point. Much better then Ulger
  4. Steve Little has no idea what he is doing coaching 3rd.
  5. Bedard signed with Pittsburgh for 4.5 million, Ryan decided to go cheap and scrape the bottom of the Barrel, resulting in the total waste of 3 million dollars. The Twins could not go a few dollars over their self imposed budget. A small market move.
  6. As was the case this year, the Pohlad's will pocket a large amount of payroll money which will be coming off the books.
  7. I doubt many Season Ticket Holders would share your view. Rooting for losses after you have spent the Winter writing checks would be crazy.
  8. Over the last two years, the Twins have given Rochester a 102 win-186 loss product. I will give them a pass for not being grateful.
  9. Butera with three hits today. Tom Burnansky miracle worker.
  10. Fasten your Seat belts
  11. Good point Many Twins prospects experience a whole lot of losing. In 2010, the New Britain Rock Cats with a 48-94 record were the worst Team in Professional Baseball. Twins Prospects such as Joe Benson, Chris Parmelee, Ben Revere and Rene Tosoni were able to experience the massive amount of losing. By the time they reach the big club, the players are fully conditioned to play on a bad Team.
  12. St. Peter has repeatedly stated that payroll will reflect about 50% of revenue. Revenue is going to drop big time next year resulting in a large slashing of the payroll. Payroll in the low 80's is not out of the question. Deduct Mauer's contract and Ryan will have about the same amount of money to work with as he did at the Dome. If the payroll drops below 84 million, Ryan will have less money to work with then he had before Target Field. Revenue will decide how much the Pohlad,s spend in the future. A return to being a small market Team is very possible.
  13. Tampa's Farm System is the reason they win on a 64 million dollar payroll. For Example, their System produced a starting Pitching staff of Price, Hellickson, Moore, Davis, Shields and Nieman. Compare that to the Twins. (Liam Hendriks ??) Until the Twins can again produce their own star players, Payroll will matter.
  14. Many of us never considered that the payroll would start to plummet so soon after the opening of Target Field. Next years payroll could easily be in the low 80's. Subtract Mauer's contract, and Ryan will have less money to work with then he did at the Dome.
  15. Funny you should ask this question. In this morning's edition of USA TODAY, Bob Nightengale list his MLB's worst Contracts. Joe comes in at number 2 " He's a swell fella. Great role model. But his eight-year, $184 million contract is the biggest albatross on any payroll in baseball. Mauer, who just two years ago was considered the finest catcher in baseball, now can barely stay healthy enough to catch, let alone hit for power. The only thing considered softer than this demeanor is his batting average. He is hitting.286 and has hit just one homer. Incredibly, he has hit only two home runs in 460 at-bats at Target Field since his new contract. Toronto's Jose Bautista has 10 in just 47 at-bats at Target Field. The Twins are playing him more frequently at first base to keep him healthy, but the Twins made him the highest-paid catcher in baseball history to handle a pitching staff. If he plays mostly at first base, and continues to be powerless, he's only a $5 million to $7 million player. Take away his 28-homer season of 2009, and Mauer has never surpassed 13 homers in a season. Little wonder why the Twins' front office is seriously thinking of moving the fences in next year." Link MLB's worst contracts: We have a new, ahem, winner
  16. "I may not like all of my Players, but if they help me win I don't care" Billy Martin New York Yankees
  17. Duplicate Post
  18. The Saints would manhandle Beloit and beat Ft. Myers. They would probably lose to New Britain in a seven game series. Their league is generally considered between high A and AA ball. The Saints Rosters consist of players who were mediocre in low A ball going all the way up to Shane Costa who played three years in the Major Leagues. Throw in everyone in between and you have an interesting Roster.
  19. What did the Twins give up for him?? A couple hundred Bucks to Mike Veeck and Bill Murray
  20. If Span is traded, it must be for pitching.
  21. I think the Radio Broadcast does a very good job of being the home town broadcast but providing objectivity when needed. The Twins hit the bullseye with Corey Provus
  22. I have always wondered how Incmitoski got his gig. I would think there would be 100+ Applicants for a sideline job. His Interviews and comments really add nothing to the Broadcast. Someone such as Lindsay Guentzel is far more talented. She would make a great sideline reporter for someone.
  23. Alex Burnett has a photo Album of Twins Coaches. Slama does not.
  24. Alex Burnett cannot pitch himself out of a job.
  25. Walters is a career minor league pitcher which you would see pitching for the Saint Paul Saints. Ryan should send somebody to scout the Saints. There is not much deference between a few of their players. Unbelievable!!
