  1. Great Points An organization such as Tampa, built their Team with players that they developed through the draft. The Twins cannot turn their Organization around with a collection of C and D prospects.
  2. Ryan has stated that he can ask Pohlad for more Money. There were moderate price free agents for 1.5 to 3 million more. Instead, Ryan went dumpster diving and ended up throwing away three million dollars. Its very similar to good consumer shopping. Buy cheap and risk throwing away your money. Pay a little more and get a quality Product.
  3. 30 million came off the books last year. Only 3 million of it was spent on upgrading the starting pitching. Ryan made his own bed, now he has to sleep in it.
  4. In less there is a blow away offer, Willingham is going nowhere.. The Twins will need a watchable product next year, also Trading a Player who has just signed as a Free Age will not look good to future Free Agents. Trading Burton would not make any sense. Cheap and under Team control for next Season. Next years Bullpen will need a couple of Veterans to go along with the kids.
  5. This would be a good time to trade Plouffe. We could get some great Prospects!!!
  6. Willingham is going nowhere. The Twins still have to put out a good product next year. It's also bad form to sign a Free Agent to a multiyear deal and trade him soon after. This may affect free agents wanting to come here in the future. But again, if we follow in the path of the KC Royals as many folks want to do, it won't matter
  7. Good points Next year, there will be 30 million dollars coming off the books. That is more than enough money to bring in several moderate price FA Pitchers. The Twins charge Major Market prices for their product. Fans will not pay those prices to see a Minor League Team. The Twins can rebuild their farm system while still putting out a good product. Other Teams have done it.
  8. 30 million dollars came off the books last year. Only 3 million of it was used to upgrade the starting pitching.
  9. Somewhere, there's a Home Run Derby looking for a Pitcher.
  10. Gladden's objectivity is something you can only wish for on the TV end
  11. Thanks for a much needed reality check.
  12. There's a Steve Little special, down four runs, send the runner.
  13. We only have 2 more losses then the Tigers. Who would have thunk it ?????
  14. Could this be Gray's last game as a Twin?
  15. Does anyone want to be Danny Valencia??
  16. There is no reason to trade Span in till someone is willing to overpay. Whats the rush?
  17. Twins bullpen has allowed only 2 earned runs , past 22 innings
  18. Tampa drafted Matt Moore in the 8th round back in 2007. Can Twins be that smart????
  19. Rule 1. Never pay a Closer for a non contending Team. Ryan paid over 4.5 million tight budget dollars + 1st round draft pick for a Closer. A. Ryan must have believed that the Twins would be a contender. B. Ryan has turned stupid the second time around. Which is it? It has to be one or the other!
  20. Seems to me that he was writting to an outside audience who is not overly informed about the Twins.
  21. I was not referring to simply watching a game, just turn on the TV for that. I am referring to buying tickets to watch a game. We just assume that hundreds of thousands of fans will continue to buy tickets and pay Big Market prices to see a bad product. The Twins can still have a watchable product while they are rebuilding. Even bad teams have a few players who Fans come out to watch. The Twins are not a Major Market Team, but they are also not a Small Market Team. (subject to change)
  22. Should we keep anyone worth watching next year? Who will be first in line for tickets? Someone will have to pay for the 55 million dollar payroll next year.
  23. Speaking about the Twins 96-98 Clubhouse "While he says no one talked to him about steroids in those years, players talked openly about amphetamines -- so openly that Naulty estimated that "80 percent of guys used drugs, no question." Speed was socially acceptable in the clubhouse." 80% of Twins players doing Drugs back in 96-98, this seems to contradict the (holier than thou) image the Twins have sold in the past.
  24. per Saint Paul Pioneer Press (Sattler interested the Twins because of his fastball, which has reached 98 mph on the Saints' radar gun. Don't be surprised if it measures a few mph slower on major league guns. "Good fastball with a breaking ball," Rantz said. "He just has to work on his command somewhat and his mechanics a little bit." The Twins are sending Sattler to Fort Myers, hoping he will join Thielbar soon in New Britain. At age 28, he needs to progress rapidly through the organization. Sattler received no signing bonus from the Twins.) Most of us want power arm prospects, here's one for $3000 bucks.
  25. I take it that Robins produce blue Eggs. http://www.dreamstime.com/robin-thumb660022.jpg
