  1. Polanco still could be a good 2b, soph slump? Would Philly even want Tonkin?
  2. So you are willing to trade some of the top pieces in the minors to get this done? Need to sign Cozart too.
  3. Moustakas could be your 3B, although I'm not sold on him sustaining this power.
  4. If the Twins don't trade away their top players and add a #3 type SP and a RP who can at least be a set up man, there is no reason this team shouldn't finish 2nd maybe 3rd at worst in 2018. I take that back, if Sano, Santana, or Berrios doesn't get hurt....
  5. Haley for Breslow makes sense. I think those pining for Garver and some of the young RP's will need to wait for Sept 1. At that point I'd be really surprised if Garver isn't up.
  6. Considering were the team is in the standings, I don't think you can automatically say it didn't pay off. Intangibles.
  7. That sounds like about 80 million to me. I'd think one SP and one RP would do wonders. Starters going longer would cure a lot of issues for the bullpen.
  8. If they are making space to promote Gonsalves or Romero, better to get money for him and to just let him go for nothing. I don't see the negativity.
  9. Making space for a mid year promotion to AAA?
  10. A Garver/Grossman combo could be interesting. I know Grossman can give you a professional at bat in the clutch, if Garver can do the same, they could be a good DH/PH combo.
  11. Seth, you'd have Garver as your bench bat right away? Vargas at least gives us a HR threat off the bench. Right or wrong I don't see Garver that way.
  12. Interesting article, thanks for sharing. I wonder what the line ups are when Gimenez is in. If your backup catcher is in, is it more likely other backups are in? Or am I just accustomed to Gardy's get away day B squads?
  13. A winning minor league system seems to be a good thing to me. There has to be some talent on the field, the coaches are doing a good job, and the plan(s) in place are working well. Prospects learning to win together and play in playoff games are important. This also helps the teams brand and the teams relationship with it's affiliates. How much of all of this translates to the majors? I'm not sure. It's beneficial for sure. How much of this indicates future talent? Again I don't know. Much like prospect rankings, metrics, and just about everything else in baseball, nothing is absolute.
  14. It makes a lot more sense to me if Atlanta leaked it. They are the ones looking for more in return.
  15. I have no disagreement with what you've written. While I did copy your comments, I really was meaning to refer to those who say he's garage or should be DFA'd immediately. To me that's a bit ridiculous.
  16. I still don't get the Belisle angst. Take away three horrible games where he gave up 12 runs in 1 2/3 innings, he has pitched 35 1/3 innings with 10 runs for a 2.55 ERA. He still could be a trade chip at the deadline as well.
  17. Holding onto a pitcher who has been successful in MLB is not comparable to a pinch runner. The Twins need pitching and are looking at every avenue. The fact they keep claiming pitchers should tell you all you need to know.
  18. This of course is assuming they trade Santana and do not get anyone back in the trade that is MLB ready. We can hope that a second piece could be a lower ceiling MLB pitcher.
  19. So he's slumped some. Give Granite some of his time to give Grossman a few days off and Granite a shot. I'll buy you case of your favorite beverage if Granite's OPS or OBP is at Grossman's come August...
  20. Could not agree more, been saying this for years! I am happy for Granite and hope he proves us wrong, but everything points to a 4th outfielder at best.
  21. Big Sexy coming to town. In his starts we can DH for Polanco or Buxton and let him bat.
  22. Grossman is exactly the guy who should be hitting at the top of the order. Happy for Granite and I understand no need for a #5, but Granite does not fit this roster. He's Buxton's backup without the power or arm.
  23. The whole K rate and K % is just one part of the equation. It's the part I think people are way too concerned about. Michael Tonkin has a pretty good K rate and K %. At some point you can either get guys out or you can't.
  24. You want to replace Vargas with Park? At best it is an even swap. A package with Gibson and Santiago plus a pitching prospect is probably less desirable than just a pitching prospect to teams selling.
  25. Is this off season going to produce a decent FA pitcher? Santana-Berrios-FA-Mejia-??? Isn't that bad a starting staff. I'm not as sold on May as others.
