I just looked up his numbers, definitely better than I remembered. When he left here it seemed he burned some bridges and has been known to be a pain in the arse off the field. For the Twins to nominate him for HOF seemed to be against the Twins way. So like I said, he didn't seem Twins HOF worthy although I fully admit his numbers were better than I remembered.
Trade him and get something in return. I highly doubt the Twins will sign him in the off season as he is asking for too much imo. They better find a vet catcher that can work with a young catcher and a young staff. Asking May and Meyer to come up to the big leagues and throw to Pinto is a recipe for disaster.
The Twins need to see if Romero can play 1st base on a semi regular basis, he doesn't look like he has the glove for 3rd base. If Collabello doesn't pan out, Romero would be in a much better position for a call up during the next Mauer injury.
Just pointing out people need to calm down and let the kid pitch. Some here wanted him in a Twins uniform right now when he isn't ready. Heard the same crazy things over the years about Wimmers, Boer, ect. Patience is needed.
But how could that be? I've been told repeatedly on these boards that BUrdi is already better than Burton, Guerrier, Thielbar, Duensing, Swarzak, Deduno, and Perkins?
We have no idea, and Tonkin certainly hasn't given me any reason to believe in limited innings. It feels like the AAA pitchers are like a back up QB for the Vikings, everyone loves them now, but will they when they are in the Bigs?
What is the point of having Deduno and Swarzak in the pen? They are basically the same thing. Any chance the Twins swing a minor deal with one of them for a bench player?
I thought Nieto was up there in slump territory as well. I wonder how many warning track balls he has in that 0-31? Unlucky and overcompensating. Will the next hit be a flare or a dinger?
Are we trying to field the worst defensive 3rd baseman to go with the worst defensive corner outfielders in baseball? I haven't heard anything good about Romero's defense, this team has a horrible defense already. Currently, I see the called up player as a bench player. Why use Romero over Florimon to sit on the bench?
Deduno is not an option in the pen imho. Either give him more starts to get it figured out, or he is the guy you send backing. Darnell gets the first shot. Fien is the 7th inning guy. We need a an 8th inning guy, unless Burton figues it out, we don't have one. Arcia should be the DH, the kid is worse in the outfield than Willingham.
Exactly. And will Florimon even start a game in the next two weeks? Oh the horrors of Florimon sitting on the bench and playing late innings for two weeks! It's a non issue.
Tonkin and Johnson thus far look like AAAA pitchers to me. Nice guys to have around for 15 days stints, wouldn't be really happy to see them in big spots in a division race.
Based on what? I have a feeling if you sent down Thielbar and Guerrier and replaced them with Achter and Pino you would be saying the opposite. I don't see how you can judge apples to oranges.
The grass is always greener on the other side. How do you know Achter or Pino would be better than Matty in the Bigs? How do you know Pino would be able to adjust to the role in the pen? A big league manager's job is to win games, not to develop youth.
Just checking in, in the off season I tend to lurk and check out a few articles. Looking forward to a more respectable season with 70-75 wins and more hope for the future.
I think this was an odd choice considering Mastro and Fryer as others have said. In the long term though, it really means nothing. This only shows how little value Hendricks has to the Twins.
Crowded just means we actually have bats on the bench for once. Gardy likes to give his bench more at bats than most, so I won;t worry one bit about a crowded outfield.
