  1. Sadly I agree with you! But one can hope. We need a catcher and pitching and a SS.
  2. Pitching, pitching, pitching, then defense, lastly hitting. We still got it backwards! Offense comes and goes. The guy who coined the phrase "good pitching beats good hitting knew of what he spoke. They will be better, and entertaining, but I doubt consistent. I just don't see the SP or defense to allow that to happen.
  3. Vielma. By all accounts he can pick it. I am seriously waiting for a SS who is judged more so by his glove than his bat. Lord knows we have enough bat first players.
  4. Santana is Robbie Grossman without the walks, but with speed and an arm. Both take less than optimim routes, and both have a year of hitting aberration. Whether one believes Santana is an adequate IF or not, he can at least play there. RG cannot. And Santana can play the OF, something no other Twins IF has came close to succeeding at, or have we forgotten EE, LF'er? As for the 25th man discussion, he/it does exist. And for a team that uses 13 pitchers, in a league with a DH, flexibility is a key. It would suck to have to send Polanco back, or DFA DanSan just because the FO can't figure out you can't have 6 corner IF/DH on the same team. But back to our original programming. The only way Sano goes to MiLB is to get his attention. Otherwise no.
  5. What? Are you saying we don't need another 1B/DH type?
  6. Any word on Buxtons health or lack thereof?
  7. This from Molitor in the Trib piece on Sanos "approach". ............... “I’m trying not to put people over other people just because of name and reputation. We have people I’m trying got get a good look at here, especially as we get into the last two months,” Molitor said. “You’ve got to keep these guys hungry and not get comfortable, and he’s not the only one we’re going to have to do that way.” The Twins remain uneasy about Sano’s inconsistent approach, too. Molitor praised Sano’s work ethic at third, but a Twins source also noted Sano skipped early batting practice Monday, amid a 2-for-18, 11-strikeout skid. One could assume that said 'source' would have mentioned the team suggesting Sano skip early BP. Add this to the many articles suggesting Sano didn't exactly battle his tail off this winter in prep for his move to RF, and there seems a pattern here. I am a Sano fan, and am not bashing him. He's awfully young, and has always gotten by on pure ability. I hope he understands more is now involved, and puts in the time.
  8. In the last week or so things have been going quite nicely, at least on offense, for the Twins. The hitting has been just short of ridiculous. But looming in the horizon are the P&P Boys. Plouffe and Park. There is no doubt Plouffe is coming back in the near future. Parks timeline has likely been muddled by Ryans leaving. Saving face is removed from the equation. But reports are that he has been hitting AAA pitching fairly well. I liked the moves Antony made so far, but the injury to Plouffe and the demotion of Park has moved the logjam at the corners and DH to the rear burner. That burner is about to reignite. Plouffe, Sano, Vargas, Mauer, Park! You might add ABW3 as DH on this team seems his only opportunity. As the old commercial said, "you can't put two ton of fertilizer in a one tone truck"! No matter your like, or dislike, of any of the above players, somebody's gotta go!
  9. I am in the camp that thinks Sano has the 'ability' to play third at this level, Gold Glove? Not! But I think his sitting is far more a lesson in humility and team construction, than over performance. I like a little cockiness and attitude, but he seems past that. This is likely about running through that stop sign, or even more likely, over the discussion that followed. Presently Sano seems very impressed with Sano. Confidence is all well and good, but if they don't get him to understand his talent is muted by his lack of attention to anything but hitting, his value is halved, and his abilities are wasted.
  10. He seems to always end up with two strikes. The difference lately is he fouls off a lot of those two strike pitches. He also swings and misses at enough up and in stuff, but it has to be UP and IN! During his slumps they pitched him down and away relentlessly. Now he fouls off or takes a few walks, and the occasional reluctant ball to RF, so they have crept back inside. He truly is a hard guy to figure out. Sadly, by the end of the season, the Twins will have no idea whether Polanco can play second base at this level. So we are either going to lose him, or relegate him to a sub role.
  11. I liked Meyer also, and agree with your thoughts on him. Meyer still has a chance, but I didn't see it here. But I fear the Twins will never completely revamp the orginisation. One never knows about Pohlad, but he has laid out some pretty big roadblocks for an agressive GM. No new manager, and no complete tear down of the existing system. I have been wrong before, but I won't believe it happens until it does!
  12. The Suzuki situation is classic Twins. They have someone they are going to lose, they aren't in a position to benefit from his remaining the last third of the year, yet they sit on him. There can only be two reasons. Meaningless wins to placate the masses, or they want to convince him to stay for a few more years, which they could have bid on after the season. I do hope they move on from Kurt, he is a tough sucker, but it's time to defensively upgrade the position. As for Meyer, I liked him. But I don't think the Twins gave up anything for this reason. If you have a tool that you can't, won't, or don't know how to use, it has no value to you. If someone else can use it it does, so while it should have a level value to each person, it really doesn't. And that's Alex Meyer. Maybe no one can, but the Twins were never going to figure him out, so get what you can. I don't know what next year will bring, but this team still says away from true power pitchers. On almost no other team would a Chargois still be in Rochester.
  13. All I know, or at least think, is that this team has WAY to many guys who are corner/DH style players. Somehow, somewhere, sometime, they are going to have to trade or move someone, somewhere. While I know that's a lot of ''somes', there is one more. Someone has to be able to catch the ball. That said, Sano should stay just where he is, and that includes well into '17, to determine if he can at least play adequate defense. (Assuming he doesn't add 20 lbs.). This team doesn't really need to win a another baseball games, to needs to sort itself out.i
  14. Thomas Malone probably throws harder?
  15. I imagine Sano is sitting this one out for intentionally ignoring thr sign. Leaves little choice. I imagine DanSan could have DH'ed?
  16. Also a very poor dating car, you seldom get past first base.
  17. Swindled? I am the one who got robbed! I just tried to flip the Nolasco and found out that no American owner would touch it! Only National owners. Cuts the resale opportunities in half. Apparently there used to be an American owner who would buy vehicles such of the Nolasco ilk, but he recently was terminated from his position. Seems his lot was full of unable to move, previously driven, well used vehicles. His boss was seen running around the lot mumbling "total system failure" and "I didn't see this in any media guides"? It was hard to tell what he meant, he didn't seem to know much about the car business!
  18. That's a little short. How about throwing in something like a Kia? Do you have any models made in Korea? I remember you used to have another Asian import, but someone told me you couldn't keep it running properly. I am looking for something with some experience, even if not on American highways. I have no doubt that after a few weeks on our roads, it will be able to catch up to freeway speed!
  19. If he doesn't come up with a suitable Bull Dozier, pm me. I have a nice used one for sale. The only problem is in the steering, it constantly pulls to the left. I have tried everything to correct it, and while it will occasionally run straight it refuse to stay there. If you can put up with that quirk and a tendency to completely fall apart about half of every construction season it's good to go. I will be honest, I think it probably looks better than it runs, but the when people drive by and see it, they will be impressed!
  20. I am also looking for a used Plouffe? The model year is inconsequential, but I don't want one that is currently in the shop. And don't try and sucker me into paying too much, I know what they are worth. Some dealers try and overvalue a Plouffe, because they look good when you test drive them. But eventually you find out their performance is inconsistent. Some weeks they could run on the Autobahn, and sometimes they could barely make it out of the WalMart parking lot. I also know for a fact your dealership is overloaded with Plouffe replacements, in fact you have several at your storage facility in Rochester as we speak.
  21. That bit won't work, I have seen Fargo. Anyone knows the Nolasco is taking up space on your 25 car lot, and is never going to be sold. It's either me, or else donate to one of those charities, and take the tax deduction.
  22. Btw, the '06 Nolasco interests me, but I was wondering if you would possibly throw in some cash before I left, to cover repairs, towing, and the general embarrassment of owning such a vehicle. Plus is it possible I could pick it up at night, so the neighbors don't see me driving it home? I live in an upscale neighborhood!
  23. I had heard the '05 Santana's had engine problems. A lot of them were traceable to improper additives placed into the motor system in an attempt to boost power. The only real way to determine the 81 day breakdown was to drain the tank and have it tested intermittently. Some owners thought the trouble and expense not worth the time. On the other hand, some figured the added power was worth the risk. The third category was the owners who said the additives were placed in the tank by an anonymous teenager at the local Shell station, unknown by the owner until one of those unfortunate, and I might add, untimely intermittent tests.
  24. I was misremembering long before you thought of that word! You just forgot about it! .
  25. I like the Nunez trade, and while I don't know if Antony talked and talked the Giants into it, or whether the Giants really wanted Nunez. The bottom line is it seemed a no brainer. We sent a position we did not need in the future, for position we do need. As far as impacting Antony's future as a Twins GM, he has been around for years. If they haven't formed a solid opinion as to his viability in that position in that time, a few common sense moves at this time aren't going to make any difference. Antony is sort of like Nunez. As the late, great Denny Green would have said, 'they are who we thought they were!'
