  1. Would dead balls in and of themselves be considered an injury, or just extremely unfortunate?
  2. An anti jinx is like a double negative. So nothing should change. Well except for Tuesday nights when you attend remedial English!
  3. That's down .4 from two weeks ago!
  4. He will be the only guy who brought his own recliner!
  5. Stick around til the end of next week, the weather should suit you just fine.
  6. That smart guy got like a month in the hole for using the word obtuse. I think that was pretty extreme! A couple weeks in The Dells should encourage you to return to a language the rest of us can understand!
  7. I am not going to pretend to know enough about the value of Hu and Jepsen to say this was a good idea at the time. But I was against the deal for another reason. I did not consider the Twins a playoff team in any part of 2015. So I didn't see a need for bull pen help. And from the needs that this team has, especially in SP, giving up one was not a good idea. The playoff run was a great story, but we were chasing too many clubs, and our own tails. We never caught either.
  8. Nolasco and Milone should go. Oddly, I would keep May where he is for this reason. They've committed to him in the pen this year, and W/L wise it makes no difference. If they are serious about him as a BP guy, they need to see if he holds us physically. Only then can you make a decision based on need, not health. Somehow Polanco plays, even if it is SS, which I don't think he is suited for. They need to know what they have in him. I would trade Dozier, but they won't. I would trade Grossman because I don't think he is a 4th OF type. He really can't play center or right with that arm, and regression will come calling. Suzuki only stays as a backup, and I mean backup. Not just waiting until someone has two bad games and then he returns like one of those Walking Dead zombies that keep reappearing. Someone who gives you insurance while you see what a Ryan, Turner, or Garver can do. If you are going to play Zuke, then trade him. The BP gets an influx of our best prospects to get their feet wet. Two last general guiding principles in the second half. Every trade is for either SP, catching, or a SS. And secondly W/L record is not a consideration, nor is attendance. I realize it's not my money, but if you want to have a decent improvement next year it starts now! Not in spring with something like a new RF, and a lottery ticket DH!
  9. I would want Molitor gone but I will say in his defense, no matter your choice of spiritual being, that deity could not have had a winning record with the opening roster. That said, his odd moves and lack of control over things like bunting and base running drive me up a vertical surface. As for the topic, Ryan? I think the record is a moot point. He either retires or stays of his own volition. I don't even think Pohlad will ask him to retire. It's going to be his call. The other moot point! It doesn't matter. We aren't going to get someone to come in here and overhaul this outfit, and completely demolish and rebuild the FO. This ain't Ziggy! While I think the topic is interesting and appropriate, I would ask this! Why would the second half record make a difference. 17 (20) years of mediocrity should have been enough. If it isn't, three more months ain't gonna matter!
  10. It is really nice to see some of the younger talent getting to play. By far the biggest difference is in the OF defense.that and the RP's are starting to rack up some K's, another change. I am a little more suspect of the offense than some. Some of its coming from career high production numbers from Suzuki, Grossman, and even Nunez. And while we have beaten Cole Hamels twice, his not being able to hit a barn door with a baseball didn't hurt. I don't remember any Cy Young candidates amongst the others. I think the OF defense when Rosario, Buxton, and Kepler play is there already. The offense and RP have also moved forward. But the IF defense, the SP, and the catching have a long ways to go.
  11. This is TwinsWorld. If they did, I would be completely astounded.
  12. Speaking of flaws, comparing Dozier and Ortiz might be another one. But if you want to make the case, or insinuation that Ortiz is selfish, go ahead. He actually became more successful by going the other way later in his career. Two completely different type of hitters and players. But only one is going to the HOF! But back to BD. Exactly when does a flawed player who refuses pretty much any attempt to fix that flaw, and makes public light of any suggestion there is a flaw, become selfish? Or does he never? Credit to Dozier, he realized he was a player with a short career path, who found a niche that kept him in MLB. Due to the lengthly streaks he runs, I never thought he did much for the team, but he is making a nice payday for himself. And if we don't agree on the definition of selfish, how about the definition of stubborn?
  13. I would trade Dozier for a couple reasons. Because of the SP this team is still further from contention than we like to believe. And that is by far the toughest aspect to correct, and we seem to have some middle infielders coming up. Secondly, and I am allowing for the first point I made. He, Plouffe, the injured version of Mauer and Suzuki have been the core of this endless loss, low offensive, and mediocre defensive team for the last three years. There's not one of the four that couldnt be moved, but sadly only Plouffe will be. Frankly without the Sano problem, I would keep Plouffe and trade Dozier. I think his selfish attitude regarding his hitting is a detriment to the team. You cannot tell me the other players don't see him being treated differently.
  14. I once went to a medium seance. I didn't think I got my money's worth, it seemed so ............. Average!
  15. Don't look now, but the wagons are circling, the fawning puff pieces are being written, and the comfort levels at One Twins (wrong) Way are slowly returning to normal. There may be a sacrificial lamb that is feeling like he is headed for that stone altar in the forest, but it's not going to be any of the "boys". I doubt that even the MiLB pitching coordinator, Eric Rasmussen, who has been here 16? years with one Ace developed feels the heat. Anyway, if you are going to Vegas, take the under on the Twins Significant Staff Changes board. Here's a nice article assuring us that more sac bunts in the third inning, and running with two outs with your top power hitter at the plate await us. Of course these actions are not the managers doing, as signs are apparently too complicated to put in use. But he will have a discussion with the player in question, and the situation will be dealt with. Again! http://www.startribune.com/twins-manager-paul-molitor-s-cool-head-prevails-during-down-season/386156371/
  16. You should always use his middle name. "Freakin" Well said. Both my son, and son-in-law, long time baseball fans, not just Twins fans, have quit following them. They check the scores, but don't TIVO or even listen on the radio. As for me, I still watch, unless something more interesting is on, like the weather. . I once sat on my bike in the Super 8 parking lot in Gillette WY at 10 30 pm finishing a game on the radio. I seriously doubt that would happen today. The real problem isn't the players. It's the nagging feelin lurking in the back of my brain that the FO won't manage the roster to get the most out of what they have. It's almost like the players have to win, despite the FO best efforts at incompetence.
  17. You should always use his middle name. "Freakin"
  18. The standard answer would be yes! But that word isn't definitive enough. It needs enhancement, such as HELL YES.
  19. What's the over/under on anyone still being awake?
  20. Bones would have used one of those whirly thingys on Buxtons knee last night, and he would have stayed in the game. . Unless of course the engine room was low on Lithium Crystals again.
  21. JHC it's raining? In TX? How do they get their grass that brown if it rains?
  22. The big question is, if this was the Tour de Framce, would Buxton be good to go?
  23. Sometimes a slump is just that a slump. Like This Quote MultiQuote A slump is something a player has after having achieved a success level off of which to judge. Neither I nor Park have achieved the status of having a slump at this point in our careers. I will concede though, that he does have a better chance to do so.
  24. I have no idea if he is injured or not. But I do think he very early became aware of the fact he had trouble keeping up with the velocity. And became an extreme guess hitter, well before Molitor will admit to it. The crazy awkward swings seem to show that. And they started to pitch him backwards. When you can't hit a FB unless you are sitting dead red, you're in trouble. I don't know if he can adjust, but I know this. There are lots of guys who can hit hanging mistakes. We have more than one in MiLB, and they are years younger and cheaper. I just cannot see why we chased a 29 yr old minor leaguer, and gave him a 4 year contract. And while that's water under the dam, 25% of the contract is already a waste, even without factoring in the Sano Experiment!
