  1. My sarcasm meter is in the shop for repair!
  2. I don't remember mentioning Murphy? I also don't remember him being a good defensive catcher when he was here, and Zuke can't throw. But I do remember the Twins seemingly not understanding defensive importance vs offense at certain positions!
  3. So I got here late, caught up on TiVo, and in the first three defensive innings we have missed two backhand GB's, and did not block a low ball with a guy on first. The low ball was a garden variety ball right in front of Centeno. I don't know whether the two grounders could have been turned into outs, but both should have been fielded. Our defense up the middle is cr*p!
  4. I am not a baseball expert, but bunting might not be Gibsons forte?
  5. So many, and I don't necessarily mean just here, have focused on the amount of money Mauers contract entails. While in some instances, a contracts length or stipulations, i.e. no trade, or team restrictions, would be an issue to me, the dollar amount has always been irrelevant. For one thing, it's not my money and for another, ownership has the money to spend on other players, if they so chose. It's simply a matter of who gets the money? The player, or the owner. For almost all of the teams, a lack of money is not an issue. Nor is profitability. The bottom line is the Twins have so many problems, any that are perceived to include Mauer are so far down the list, a new GM won't get to it until the contract is up anyway!
  6. What made this so odd, is that on other occasions he will challenge a call that is much more questionable, in the first inning, or even has done in in the first AB! This is another sign of is total lack of consistency when he manages. Very seat of the pants!
  7. A swinging third strike by Grossman?
  8. I must write good, I do all these things.
  9. Then you haven't been watching closely. :). We catch ground balls with the same enthusiasm, and profiency as my wife catching mice!
  10. Typical Canadian, shows up for The War of 1812 two years late!
  11. I don't think we are supposed to. But I still don't know why Chi doesn't like VB?
  12. It could be a long night, the group seems to be turning on each other earlier than normal! And we haven't even had our first error committed, or ran into an out!
  13. I don't know what they called it, but I don't think they can see Russia from there!
  14. that's it, I surrender! sheesh
  15. And everyone always says how polite the Candians are? .
  16. That could apply to some on here also. Mom peaks down her basement steps every once in awhile. I hate when she does that, I am in my mid 40's and easily able to care for myself in her basement!
  17. The term coherent and GT should never be sued in the same post.
  18. Isn't that where Custers scout miscounted the Native Americans? Little known fact, that scout lived, and ended up scouting the Far East for the Twins!
  19. I called, and someone with an accent, who claimed his name was Benjamin, offered to sell me 165 Viagra pills for only $239 plus of course S/H! When I asked if this could be a monthly recurring shipment, he hung up on me!
  20. I had called in to the Whine Line to tell this story from the phone booth in Faith, but I was put on hold for so long the temp in the booth reached epic proportions, and I ran out of quarters! The least the Whine Line could do is have a toll free number!
  21. I spent most of my time strapped face down on the table. (I still don't know what they intended to learn in that position), but I did hear them talking about two subjects they had abducted a couple weeks ago. One was a taller guy who they picked up first. Later they captured a early 60's bald guy, out for a ride on his HD. Everything apparently was fine until they put the bald guy in a cage next to the tall guy! The bald guy went bats*^t crazy. They couldn't keep both of them, so they dropped the tall guy off in So. Cal. They kept the bald guy. It sounded like they hadn't gotten any info out of him yet, he just sits in the corner of his cage muttering "pitch to contact" and "metrics my ass" or something like that. English is a second language to aliens!
  22. Despite RB's assertion, alien abductions are not that rare. I was taken in late May while driving a lonely gravel road at one am on a moonless night. Like many I was to be used as a science experiment. As they were strapping me to the table and readying the probe, I asked what they were looking for? "We are attempting to ascertain the abilities of the human levels of patience, intelligence, and the ability to withstand pain and suffering"? Wow, I said! That's quite a project! How long will this take? Will I be home in time to watch the Twins game? All I remember after that is the head alein shaking his head, and mumbling something about. "There's nothing to learn here" and I woke up in my Ford Bronco, just east of Faith SD! I know many will doubt this tale, and I can't remember the exact date, but I do remember it was a night the Twins lost!
  23. This is truly a battle of Epic Proportions. ( I really don't think so, I just love the term) If this was the Red Sox, and Yankees ESPN would be all over it! They would drag out the cliche encyclopedia and rain down superlatives on our heads..... Someone might even intone, 'And we'll (sadly) see you tomorrow night'. But alas, it's the lowly Twins and Braves, leaving only rural America to care, or more likely not care!
