  1. Good thing you're not a professional scout. Every single reputable draft scouting place had him as a 1st or 2nd rounder. This crap comes up every year. Buxton started slow in 2012 and people said he was a wasted pick. People wanted Morneau shipped out for Wiggington. People could only focus on Mauer's faults. Back before WAR recalculated his value, people complained about Hunter all the time. Berrios was roughed up last year and people jumped off the bandwagon left and right. Baseball is a game of failure. Rooker's going to have ups and downs before he makes the majors (he will make the majors). I have no idea what the best way to be a fan of a team is. I tend toward trusting professional evaluators that I have been able to read. Making the majors is hard. But utterly nonsense posts like yours - a first round pick is a 30th round - seem unnecessarily mean spirited and puts you in a position of hoping that a major prospect in our system fails so you can "be right."
  2. Nice to see Baddoo and Miranda have strong starts. I really liked those picks last year because of the upside but they are far away.
  3. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/david-paulino-receives-80-game-suspension.html Houston's pitching prospect was top 50-60ish pre-season on most lists. He'll miss the rest of the year and is unable to pitch in the post-season. He tested positive for Boldenone. That's the same drug Met's pitcher Mejia used and was caught with twice.
  4. Well, it's official. Nice to see the Twins are loading up on high toolsy guys.
  5. I know a few people who do options but they are much better at the market than I am and, over the long run, they've made money but they've had big losses too. It's too much like day trading for me.
  6. HBP http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19770374/washington-nationals-shortstop-trea-turner-breaks-wrist
  7. Trea Turner broke his wrist and will miss probably at least two months. Bummer for him.
  8. I don't think there's anything wrong with giving a AA arm a spot start in the majors. Pretty exciting for the guy. Good luck to him.
  9. I think a lot might depend on how the Twins FO and other teams view Gonsalves, Romero and Jorge but the Twins probably have the pieces to get something but it might not be the top shelf return. Instead of Sonny Gray, could the Twins nab Jharel Cotton?
  10. I can't believe how immature Trump is. He's just a pathetic human being. I still can't believe he's our President.
  11. As for pitchers, Romero, Thorpe, Wells and Jorge were also low money signings the last few years. Ynoa was big money, I believe.
  12. The Red Sox also got caught cheating the system last year by giving bonus to lesser players and those players sharing it with guys they wanted to sign.
  13. Nice to see Gonsalves and Romero pitching well in AA. I hope they get promoted to AAA this year (or the majors). Blankenhorn is doing well after a mid-season slump as well.
  14. Mike kind of hit the problem on the head, at least where I live. I need comcast so I just have netflix and an HBO package.
  15. I bet Buxton is faster than lint
  16. I don't mind someone else getting at-bats over Mauer but that someone shouldn't be Vargas. I'd rather have Mauer and his high on-base skills in the lineup.
  17. Lots of people wanted more than De Leon but reporting from national writers was that the Dodgers said Bellinger, Buehler, Stewart, Urias, Alvarez, Verdugo and Lux were off limits in a trade (at least one that included De Leon).
  18. But didn't we just send Gee down? Doesn't that mean he can't get called up again for 10 days barring an injury?
  19. No, just pointing out a lot of strange trades and moves. They've let a lot of talent go.
  20. Well, to get Gattis they gave up Folty and Ruiz. For Fiers and Gomez they gave up Domingo Santana, Josh Hader and Brett Philips. For Giles they gave up Velasquez and others. For McCann they gave up Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman. The Astros have let a lot of talent leave the org the last few years in bad trades and giving up on guys too early (Grossman, JD Martinez, DeShields). I'm not sure if that's a good thing - look at all that talent that they stockpiled! - or a mark against the FO.
  21. That was a fun series. I missed almost all of it.
  22. This does suck. Hope the kid is ok longterm.
  23. Maybe Melo is Anthony Slama?
