    It's not "ruining the offseason" that bothers me. It's ruining the 2019 on-season. It's going to be a long summer if "we can't afford it" is the team's response to every free agent signing or big contract traded.

    Adrianza is another position that needs upgrading on the Twins roster. He isnt awful, but "isnt awful" is by definition in need of upgrade, if you're trying to be better than middle of the ALC. How about finding a guy who is better than that as the futility infielder?

    It’s because playing infield is miles more difficult than outfield. Converting fly balls into outs is child’s play compared to ground balls.

    I’m ok with Romero to the pen. I guess if they’re putting Cron at first, some ABs for Kepler at first against righties wouldn’t be the worst idea. But leave May where he is, and everyone needs to take a deep breath on Astudillo.

    That's all well and good, if you believe WAR actually tells you anything. If you believe Cruz, coming off three consecutive seasons of .900+ OPS prior to last years .850 is only a little better hitter than Cron, coming off three part time years of .700+ OPS's the three prior years. Or if you're trying to win the WAR/$ championship, rather than the WS.

    I'll post a retraction if proven wrong, but the problem with this waiver claim, as I see it, is it tells me Falvine aren't going to do anything real to improve the 2019 Twins. Cron is your 2019 first baseman. They'll dumpster dive, look late in the offseasn for cheap FAs that don't get offers, make a waiver claim here and there for ill-fitting pieces that don't move the needle much if at all (as so accurately stated by Carole), and perhaps complete an ultimately meaningless trade or two. They won't spend, they won't add any difference makers, and next by July they'll be looking to auction off parts for lotto tickets again in another wasted season. If Cron is the 5th or 6th best piece acquired, fine. If not, they're not doing anything worthwhile with this move.

    So...they're going to add a LH hitting first baseman to platoon with Cron? Otherwise, this is pointless.
