  1. 1. Neither Wacha nor Lugo are Nolasco or Correia level pitchers. Nor are they Desclafani level, for that matter. 2. However, The Twins not spending money at an appropriate level is the issue, not who KC spent on. There's $30-$40m, easy, that can and should have been added to the Twins payroll. You don't have to limit yourself to Carlos Santana and having San Fran pay for Desclafani. Sign some actual help. 3. I'm not embarrassed, I'm disappointed and a little PO'd.
  2. What possible difference does $5.25M vs $6.75m make? Will he hit better at the lower salary?
  3. Anthony Desclafani says hi.
  4. Scratch Corbin Burnes off your wish list. Traded to Baltimore for little or nothing.
  5. So when you said "all of the teams" as a way to pooh-pooh the idea of trading for an actual asset, you didn't really mean "all." Got it.
  6. I hear some teams sometimes address starting pitching needs through a trick called free agency, rather than depending solely on trades or minor league promotions.
  7. Bally/Diamond/Amazon don't own Twins streaming rights. Nobody is "giving the Twins the business." If there was someone who wanted to purchase those rights at a reasonable price, gotta believe they'd have been sold. The problem is, apparently those rights aren't as valuable as people think.
  8. I doubt the Pohalds are "agreeing" to anything. They haven't been able to sell the streaming rights to a third party. I assume games will be streamed on mlb.tv.
  9. Agree on the rotation, but there's miles of space for adding a bat.
  10. JD Martinez would be a fantastic gamble. The same people who who don't like him now didn't like him last offseason either. RH power, fills a middle of the order spot. We don't have enough bats to think we can fill the DH spot every day. .893 OPS in 2023. Among Twins only Royce Lewis beat that last year.
  11. Wait...wut? Can you point to your past posts advocating trading for mid-30s pitchers?
  12. MLB contracts are guaranteed. Desclafani is getting $12m for the 2024 season unless he chooses not to show up. Even if he's released by the Twins prior to opening day. Pro tip: when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging
  13. 1. Where are the Twins going to be able to spend that money in June or July if (when) Desclafiani sucks? 2. The Twins didn't actually net an extra $8M. They got $8M to put towards Desclafani's $12M salary. 3. Both SF and Seattle were so happy to be rid of Desclafani this winter they were willing to pay part of his salary to NOT pitch for them. That should tell you what those two organizations think of him.
  14. I wish I could like this post 100 times. Spot on. Although, I do care about decent relievers. But I'm not convinced 33 year old, one hit wonder Topi is actually "decent," nor should it take Jorge Polanco to acquire him. The stated goal all offseason has been to improve the rotation. This doesn't do that. People are now calling Desclafani a "throw in," ferpetesakes. And then somehow claiming that's a GOOD thing. What??
  15. Pretty underwhelmed. Desclafani most likely doesn't help the Twins in any meaningful way.
  16. Tell us you're a commie without telling us you're a commie, commie.
  17. An hour, in studio, on KFAN. That's the key takeaway.
  18. One of my all time favorite Twins. I never once questioned whether Torii Hunter gave every ounce of everything he had, every game. He'd literally run through a catcher, or a wall, to win a game. But not a HOF level player.
  19. This. Bullpens are important. And getting more important with each passing season as starters pitch fewer and fewer innings. I dont know how many times this needs to be said: There are no "low leverage" relievers. Adding a Josh Hader would be a great idea even if you had 7 Mariano Riveras.
  20. FTR, Hicks is a switch hitter.
  21. All of which ends up costing the consumer more than cable or satellite TV did. The cable cutters are getting what they demanded. Less for more.
  22. I'm confused. Neither Bally Sports nor Diamond own Twins broadcast rights. Not over the air, or streaming. I don't see the connection here, unless the Twins are negotiating separately with Amazon.
