  1. WAR schmoor. Don't care about that. Tsuyoshi Nishioka is the worst MN Twin of all time.
  2. "Falvey discusses offseason." I expected an empty thread.
  3. I'm totally with you in this thread...this "heightened fan experience" is such incredibly obvious BS, such a ham-handed slap in the face of fans as to defy reality. However, I'll cut 'em some slack on not signing a 1 year deal with Bally. Too many fans don't get Bally's. That's been a major issue, fans can't watch the games. And the bankruptcy (and failure to pay the Dbacks and Padres the full previous contract) would give me real concern about seeing my money. Plus with a 1 yr deal I'd be right back in the same position next offseason, looking for a TV contract. I wouldn't take the 1 yr, roughly 25% reduction deal either. But I also wouldn't piss in my fans corn flakes with cries of "woe is us, gotta cut payroll" before the checks are cashed from the postseason, nor would I close part of my stadium, which just reeks of a minor league operation. They've managed to erase every ounce of goodwill from their first postseason win in decades and seem intent on driving this franchise even further from ordinary fans.
  4. Maybe. I tend to think people underestimate the costs of striking out. Interesting question.
  5. Personally, I'd rather see a move back toward 4 man rotations. Ever expanding pitching staffs, with lower and lower workloads, have done nothing to decrease injury. It does severely limit the other half the roster though.
  6. I don't know if that's true. MLB lowered the mound in the 60's because there wasn't enough offense.
  7. It's not easy. However, he'll foul off a lot more close 2 strike pitches by swinging than by taking.
  8. Both left field and 3rd base line upper deck are still open.
  9. Having lots of fans in LA and New York leads to a 2 team league. That's not going to help baseball. If you want to fix baseball start with removing money as a primary factor in who wins and loses. Ensure talent distribution over time. Give fans of every MLB team reason to believe they can win if the team is smart enough. Every team's fans should believe the system would allow for an Ohtani on their team. Start by breaking the MLBPA, so these things can occur. Like the NFL.
  10. Yeah, MLB is flourishing and the NFL can't get anyone to watch.
  11. The Dodgers buying pennants is ABSOLUTELY terrible for MLB. Awful. This is one major thing (among others) killing baseball. And it won't be fixed until MLB grows some balls, breaks the MLBPA (like the NFL did) and mandates a system whereby teams can't win by spending more. Win by spending better. Developing better. Trading better. Drafting better. Not by a few teams massively cheating the system.
  12. I'd have to say you have this exactly backwards. Spending money is always less risky than spending players.
  13. This is ridiculous. MLB needs to bust the union, and institute a hard salary cap. It did wonders for the NFL. It would do wonders for MLB as well. And MLB better do it quickly, while it still properly claims to be a "major" sport.
  14. This is a ridiculously one sided trade in favor of the Yankees.
  15. You are correct, Mr Vice President.
  16. I'm also a fan. They need a backup. BTW, it's "nattering nabobs of negativity."
  17. Color me skeptical. I've read this too many off seasons.
  18. Love Provus. Not sure I can handle more Atteberry. Maybe as the full-time guy he won't feel the need to talk quite so much.
  19. Concur. I think Lewis is the Twins 3rd baseman for at least the next few seasons.
  20. It'd be nice to keep Polanco around, but it makes more sense to trade him in hopes of turning that value into something more needed. Julien is going to be the every day regular at 2nd base in 2024.
